First time back to the track with new 383
I swapped in a 383, TH-350, Moser 12 bolt over the winter in place of my old 305. I went to the track for the first time tonight and was very happy with the way the car performed. The car went faster with each run as I got used to it and ran it a little harder. I was suprised to run so well considering I haven't spent much time tuning and I had 25lbs of air in the ET streets. With more tuning and lowering the tire pressure to 8-10lbs I think I should be in the high 11's. Heres the stats for my best run(mods are in my signature).
R/T .618
60' 1.925
1/8 7.935 @ 89.22mph
1/4 12.337 @ 111.52

Unless your car is less than 2800 pounds, you shouldn't need to go less than 14 psi in the tires. I usually run 14-16 in mine.

Chronos_Titan, the car still has a full interior so it hasn't been stripped much. Heres what I've done to remove weight
removed spare tire
removed emissions equipment and AC
fiberglass hood
aluminum heads
weld prostar rims
And of course the 6pt. rollbar and subframe connectors added some weight. I will have the car weighed soon so I know for sure how heavy it is. Thanks for the advice Stephen 87 IROC, I'll definately try 14-16 pounds to see how that works for me.

Hello James, Long time no see. Its nice to see you got the 383 in there. Your car sounds similar to mine (meaning the weight reduction you have) excect I have Iron heads and I don't have a cage (Which I need badly!!) But anyway, My car weighs 3072 w/o me in it. My car came without power windows, door locks, no power hatch release, no cruise control, no tilt column. The only thing I have really removed under the hood is the AC and Emmisions and the power steering, so your car should somewhere close to that. 16 psi in my 28 X 10.5 ET Drags have produced my best 60' times. Anyway glad to see you've got it going, and with some better 60 ft's, you should easily be in the 11's.
P.S If you don't have them, Spohn LCA Relocation Brackets picked up my 60' times, almost a half a tenth, and I was already getting 1.64-1.65's so they were definetly the single most effective componant I have done to the rear suspension, and for the price, its crazy not to have them.

Thanks Basett_Racing, I have the relocation brackets but haven't installed them yet. My car should weigh almost the same as yours because I don't have any of the power options either. I still need to update my website with my new motor information and pics.

Sounds like you got a nice running car.. I'd watch the airpress.. like stephen said. don't go too low. mid-highteens usually works the best on the street wieght thirdgens from what i've seen.. get much below 15 and they start wobbling up the top end.
