LS1 in a thirdgen? What will i run?
I have a LS1 motor in the car with a T56 transmission
Cold Air intake w/ K&N
125 shot of nitrous
STB
SFC
19x9.5 rims out back, 265 tires
about 150 in weight savings besides the 150 saved from the aluminum ls1
Centerforce Clutch
Any ideas on what i will be running??

19" rims is this a Escalade or a sports car
What gears and convertor are you running?
I would guess mid 12s without the nitrous and without knowing the gears.

since you probly wont ditch the rims..
might want to get some dirt cheap 15" or 16" rims and put some track tires on that....
id say slicks, but you would probly blow the 10bolt apart...

oh, and i call high 12s with great shifting, 13s with avg shifting.
you weigh less then a 4thgen to start with.. so id expect good for a 4thgen times.

Well...
There is a third gen around my home town that has a complete LS1 / T56 setup installed. It's an EARLY 3rd gen Camaro, 82 or 83... Brown on brown.. LOL
He did because he bought a wrecked LS1 car cheap.
He made his own mounts etc...
Don't know what gears he has ( didn't ask ) but last season I watched him get baited to race the car ( he was in the parking lot helping someone with their car ) ..
With 15" wheels and a pair of slicks they had handy...he made 3 runs...
Best was the last, as he never hooked up on the first two, he either didn't heat the slicks enuff or he just botched the launch...the last run was RIGHT at 12.40
He did say the engine was untouched ( never even took the valve covers off ) stock.

I have a friend with a 98 vette auto. It has a 200 shot, exhaust, fuel press reg. cold air intake, and slicks. He launched it on the nitrous and ran a 10.93 @ 134. So I guess mid-high 11s on spray, high 12s on motor for you.

a run down the track with 19 inch 265 series tires is a bad idea, they won't hook, and they cost a lot to replace.
Get some Drag radials and 15 inchers.
with 19's: 13's
D/R's: low 12's.
Nitrous+ D/R's= low 11's
Nitrous+D/R's+suspension= high 10's
you better get that rear sturdy.
I have a super beefed rear in my fourth-gen, I'd be happy to help you out if you need, gonna cost you another $1500 tho.

As far as the rims i should have mentioned that i'm getting drag radials for the w/ skinnies for the track, just was wondering what i would run with the street tires as i will not be buying them until after summer and i have somewhere to store them......(no garage now)
4th Gen posi rear w/ 3.42 gears

Low 13's on the motor, low 12's on the bottle. That car is not going to hook on low profile street tires, and you are not going to be able to spray nitrous out of the hole or even probably in second without blowing the tires off.

That's my vote. If you're lucky anyway. You'll have to drive it for a while though, get used to the way the "new" car feels. Where your power is and where you can use it. Once you do that, I think you can see the above times.....13's motor, low 12's on the bottle. Happy shifting.
Congrats on getting your car back btw!Supreme Member

Stock exhaust manifolds? So other than the cold air and the "straight exhaust" (what is it, custom y pipe to single straight 3" pipe, dumps before axle or what??) it's a stock LS1? I'm thinking high 12s at best, 13s more like it on motor. Low 12s on the spray if you can hook up enough to use it much at all...

I imagine that going from a TBI -> LS1 is quite the change and will take you time to learn how to drive it.
How come you didn't dyno it after all that work there? Would've given you a better idea of what you could expect and any tuning needed.
If you took it out today, I think mid-low 13's tops on motor. High-mid 12's spraying. After some practice, I'm sure better.
When are you going to the track? Didn't see that listed.
