New engine.....how fast?

I'm dropping a 406 in my camaro, and I want some estimates on how fast it will go. It is basically a truck motor so it has gobs of torque but not much top end. Here are the specs:

882 heads
GM cast iron dual plane intake
holley 600 cfm carb
RV cam (204/214??) not sure on specs
Hedman 1 5/8" long tubes
2.5" exhaust with cutouts

I put it into desktop dyno and it came out with 338 hp and 480 ft-lbs of torque. I figure its probably not that high, maybe 300 hp and 450 ft-lbs. I have 3.08 rear gears in the stock 10 bolt, stock 700R4 and tubular LCAs. Im thinkin low 13's on street tires, maybe high 12's with slicks. Thanks.

Will be a torquey motor....You gonna shift at 4 grand?

I think you'll be hard pressed to hit 12s with that setup.

I'd say high 13's. Take it to a track and find out and let us know.

Dang, I was hopin to at least get in the 13's with it. I will get it to the track as soon as I get the engine put in. I'm pretty hard pressed for time right now.

traction will be everything. 13's on street tires is possible but you have alot of low end torque to try and hook up

No offence but it's not exactly a powerhouse engine.

406 SBC has great potential but it's one of the bigger SBC combinations without a lot of aftermarket parts such as block and crank and needs help that 305/350 parts won't fix.

882 heads - very restrictive even on a stock engine. Probably cracked also since most 882 heads are very thin castings. Even a set of 992 or 993's are better. Put some 2.02/1.6 valves in and do a minor port and polish.

600 CFM carb - good for a 305. Very small for a 406. Minimum 750. 800-850 would be better.

Cast iron intake - I don't even want to go there with all the better aftermarket aluminum intakes available.

RV cam - You're not putting this into a truck that's pulling a camper so use a cam better suited for the car. Any Comp Cams Xtreme energy cam that doesn't exceed the limits of the heads is a better choice.

The headers and exhaust are fine for what you want to do with it.

I bought it from a guy that was going to put it into his truck so that explains the setup. I have a comp cams 280H cam that i might put in there, but I don't know if that would outrun the heads or not. I will pull a valve cover when I get home to see if they are the 882 heads or not, but I'm pretty sure that's what the fella told me. As far as the intake goes, i may fork out the 100 bucks or so and get an edelbrock performer. Thanks for the input guys.

wrong specs

My bad on the list of parts. It actually has a GM aluminum intake and a 650 cfm Holley VS. They are 882 heads though. I don't know if I will need new valve springs for the heads though and if so if I will have to machine the heads to accept higher lift valve springs. I'm new at this and don't know how easy it is to change out valve springs on a head. There is a place around here where I can take the heads to get them machined but will it really make that big a difference on 882's? I have a bunch of other stuff I need to do to the car so I don't have enough money for a new set of heads right now. I may be able to afford to get the 882's ported and polished and machined for 2.02/1.6 valves depending on how much that costs. If I can't afford to do that then I will just have to live with them until next summer. Will the 280H cam (adv dur. 280*/dur @ .050 230*/.480" lift) still be okay with the stock 882 heads?
