test n tune...

Well shes still running alright. Got some runs in today, first time with the T56...boy its a lot harder then the auto . Havent been to the track in over a year and i had a free day so i said hey why not. Got about 5 runs in before i called it a day. It was getting HOT out there in the sun. I think the car definently has some more in her, maybe with a better driver also. Also scaled the car at 3360 lbs with me in it, i was happy to see that!

Best run of the day was a 13.707 at 101.85 mph with a 2.029 60'. Second best which i have the video of was a 13.818 at 101.93 mph with a 2.136 60'. Also managed a 19.8 at 87 mph with get this...a 7.7 60' time! lol stalled it.

All of the runs today were in 85 degree hot sun not the best temps.

3360 lbs race weight
350 TPI
SLP runners, airfoil, gutted airbox, K&Ns
AFPR set at 48psi
Hedmen Headers, Custom 3" catback with edelbrock muffler
T56
alum ds
3.73 posi

I definently think a 13.5 run is possible, maybe with a 1.9 60' and a LOT cooler weather.

What do you guys think? Any suggestions on how to improve? Anyone wanna tell me i need a faster car? lol.

Re: test n tune...

put on some slicks and 101 is good for lower 13s if you can get out of the hole better. Of course a 10 bolt, slicks, and 6 speed is looking for trouble.

Sound like you have a nice runner, Don't sweat the 10 bolt so bad..
I switched last year to a t56 with my 10 bolt that has been in my 10 second (now wrecked) TA for years.. Still with the same 3.73's that were killing it, slipping clutch out hard to save 10 bolt at 5500-6000 to a best 1.53 60 ft.
running 11.002 best natural with auto was 10.87, I could have gotten it back there as well with more seat time.. that was only second time back at track to get there.. That same 10 bolt saw 1.38 best 60ft using the auto..

Don't get me wrong, I knew 6 years ago the 10 bolt was a time bomb - but figured I would abust it till it could no longer handle it..
Guess what, it outlasted the car.. Now will go into my new 1994 transplant vehical till it breaks.. Watch how you drive it, don't shock it on the launch. Slip fast, smooth, don't let nose drop.. i will bet when you 60ft it better your MPH is going to come up a little some to.. Being you stalled it once, you are probably leaving at a low rpm and bogging which kills a pass.. Car easily has lower 13's in it.. 103 can take you into 12.99`

oh god, car #811 just raped you after the 60ft.. lol but not too bad.. launching is pretty rough with a stick.. even on drag radials i cant get it to hook.. but i was droppin clutch at around 5000.. now i got the 3step w/ adjustable launch control so i can play around..

but you def. have low 13's in there..

That post made me feel good, thanks .

Its hard to keep a steady foot, but most of the launches were a 2k-2.5k dump. It either bogged, or spun, or stalled . Like you said - on one of my runs the front came down before i was moving enough and it just starts spinning and wont stop spinning into 3rd unless my foot completely comes off the gas and that gave me a crap time too. The best 13.7 run it hooked pretty well, if anything it bogged not too much tire spin.

I will be getting back there soon to keep practicing. I will try slipping the clutch out.

Tell me about it! C5 Z06 ran that 12.6 pass. Im just kinda looking straight forward, sticking with him for a moment or two then BAM it just takes off, ya he smoked me .

Wow, those are some great times. I guess 3.73's aren't horrible for some TPI cars.

Congrats!

Re: test n tune...

Thanks, im crossing the finish at the top of 4th so they actually are perfect. With a T56 steeper gears are like a must no matter what powerband you have.
