I am curious as to what I would run.... I have a L98 350 with flowtech shorties, airfoil, 1.6 Stamped Steel rockers, 700r4, MSD blaster coil, airbox cut out(ram-air), colder plugs, exhaust cutout. I plan on running a 150 shot of nitrous wet. I am wondering what anybody thinks I will run... I am going to the track next week... The quickest I ever ran was a 14.1 and that was on a very cold day (without nitrous)

 

I've no experience with nitrous,
but the altitude, humidity, and air & track temperatures
will affect your ET's if your still running the factory TPI.

I've run 14.xx 1/4 miles NA in 98* daytime temps @ 2130 ft elevation.
I've run 13.9xx 1/4 miles NA in 98* night time temps @ 800 ft elevation.

I've run my best @ a cooler temp & humidity @ night @ the 800 ft elevation.

I would think the nitrous would be good for a
full second bring you down to at least a 13.1

Just remember a bad @ the track beats a good day @ work anytime.
And if you can drive it home when your done racing it's been a good time.

If you can hook up on the 60' @ 1.85 or lower
you should be able to turn at least a 13.5 seconds @ 100 mph..... I did.

My rear gears were changed to 3.42
but I'm still on Goodyear HP street tires.
My 60's are usually 1.89 to 1.92

Lately the best I've been able to run is only a 13.758 @ 98.77
with a 60' of 1.918

My car will run it's best after an hour cool down with the upper plenum & runners packed in ice.
I'll push the car in staging lanes with the hood open & keep the ice on till I'm almost ready to get pulled from staging lanes to go to the burn out box.

 

I appreciate the input and I will post my times after I run. Does it help to put ice on the intake??? I was planning on doing that when I go to the track this time.

 

Putting Ice can't hurt.

I know mine cools down a lot faster with the ice on top.

The only time I can say for sure it felt like it was
helping was when the car was
almost completely stock & I was running @ night & the temp
dipped to around 35*.
That was when we had the local track still open. (Only an hours drive)
It was almost midnight on a beautiful October night.
The guys at the track knew me, and I had my neighbor with me
who had his '98 Mustang GT there.
We were cooling down for nearly an hour right close to the burn out boxes.
All we had to do was close the hoods, start up, burn out, then stage.
Those were the good old days.( It closed @ the end of 2005)

But as far as putting a quantifiable amount.

Well, no I can't say for sure you'll gain a certain
amount of time or speed by adding ice.
(for example: .05 of sec. faster or .25 mph quicker)

It's kind of like the throttle body coolant bypass,
running a colder thermostat, relocating the MAT sensor,
or having a off/on switch to run your fans constantly.

Each by themselves doesn't count for much but
maybe, just maybe all of them together might help.

 

Keep in mind, icing down your intake and subsequently dripping water all over the launchpad tends to tick off the guys running the track and the guy behind you.

 

That does make sense.... I wouldn't like a wet launch pad...

 

if you do run nitrous dont bother with the ice, the nitrous will cool it even better, and not leave water on the pad

I am so ticked off...... I got to run once before it started to lightning and they shut down the timing system. But my first run wasn't the greatest..... It was like 15.7 at 87. I spun alot and I let off of the button at about 1000' because I heard a pop, but I think I hit the limiter..... I got a raincheck so I will be back to the track soon and then it will be different.....alot different.
