One more try...

I posted this a few days ago but it wasn't quite as detailed and didn't really get any replies.

The car is an 88 camaro with a carbed 355, 350 trans, Hedman headers, sfc's, posi, 3.73's, moroso fuel cooler, and a little weight reduction. Back seats are gone along with all the rear carpeting and plastic trim in the hatch. A/C is gone.

The engine is a 355 with a comp cam with around 220-230 duration at .50 and lift of about .480. The heads are the 67cc World SR Torquers. It is topped off with an Edelbrock RPM manifold and a 750 Demon Carb.

The tranny is a turbo 350 with a shift kit. It has an 11" TCI breakaway stall.

I know the carb is too big, but I don't know alot about carbs. Can't it be jetted down to work with my setup, if so, what do I need?

How will my car perform with this setup and how will it perform after fixing the carb issue?

Re: One more try...

Nothing wrong with a 750 on a 355. Unless you plan of doing daily street driving only with no intention of any kind of performance, I wouldn't recommend anything smaller.

As for jetting, it doesn't have anything to do with the carb size. The goal is to jet to give the best air/fuel ratio during normal driving conditions. Depending on the exact carb models, a 750 carb could have 82 jets and an 850 could have 78 jets to achieve this. Bigger carbs allow more air into the engine which can broaden the power curve.

Best air/fuel ratio is around 14.7:1. At WOT it should be slightly rich around 12:1.

A bit more cam could really wake up the engine.

Thanks for the info. What kind of 1/4 mile times would my current setup produce? What is a better cam choice and how much of a gain should I expect?

I'd guess mid to low 13's if you tune the heel out of it.

lol what running on 7 cylinders theres 350's with bolt ons running high 12's. Id say he should run mid to high 12's with a nice tune and stall

Re: One more try...

I'd say low 13's. On a perfect day, great traction, and a tailwind, 12s are possible.

I'd say high 12's if you can dead hook the car. Good luck, let us know how it goes.

Re: One more try...

Just picked up some Scorpion 1.6 roller rockers. Just need an alternator, plugs, and gaskets to get it all together.

Which plugs should I go with? I already have MSD super conductor wires.
