Times with LT headers/3500 stall
old times were 12.89 at 107 with a 1.97 60' and a 13.00 at 106 overshooting second gear and going into third.
New additions are the Performabuilt Level 2 transmission with their 3500 stall, Hedman longtubes into a dual cat custom y pipe and a dyno tune. Now the results
60 1.714 1.738 1.728 1.749
1/8 et 7.791 7.977 7.930 7.940
1/8 mph 85.08 86.26 86.49 86.00

Re: Times with LT headers/3500 stall
I am a lil disgruntled that my mph didnt increase, but my times went down. The 12.585 run I overshot 2nd gear and same with the 12.52 run. My best 60 foot time was with the worst ET
But at least I am hitting low 1.7's with factory 323's But i dont think the rear end liked it too much. It was talking to me on the way home a little. I would've liked to have those Motive 373s in there but I was crossing the line around 5000 rpms...and according to my last dyno tune, I was making max hp at 5300. If i could hit high 1.6's I'd be really happy, especially if the 10 bolt held together.
Overall I will say I am pretty satisfied but I am wondering why my mph didnt increase since my last et of 12.89 when i had edelbrock TES?
Either which way, a tune was needed for the car.

The bigger stall will eat some power. What does the car weigh?

----------
weather last night was around 50* on the 12.8 run at richmond dragway i cannot remember though
according to the dyno tune i got after the lt header install, it started out at 300 rwhp (previous was 341 rwhp) and then after tuning got it to 323 rwhp.

So your running near same mph and better ET's with less dyno'd horsepower?? interesting.. was that converter locked on the dyno? I figured you'd make more power with the longtubes over TES system.

Re: Times with LT headers/3500 stall
according to the dyno and the tuner, the converter looked like it was locking up around 4000... I too was weirded out i was at the same mph over the TES system. Then again it was a different dyno....dyno's should only looked at as a tuning tool, not as a mesurment of performance.

yeah in a sense a dyno is only a tuning tool. In your case, different dyno would cause some number differences...but still very interesting to see such different numbers

Re: Times with LT headers/3500 stall
power braking to about 1700-1800 and the converter flashed around 3400-3500. I really wasnt prepared for what this new converter did....I thought I broke something....I wish my wife would've came...I wanted to know if I got off the ground....even an inch would've been nice

id say with 3.73's you would cut some 1.6's 60 foots and probaly almost in the 12.15-12.30 times.

Re: Times with LT headers/3500 stall
thats what i was thinking....it was funny i thought when i cut the first run with the 12.5 i was like alright thats better, but im missing soemthing....my mph isnt up...and a guy that was hanging around me asking me questions about my car bc he is building a 383 asked me "what rear end do you have on this?" I started to answer him then i literally smacked myself on the forehead.....i remembered i didnt have the 373s. I do believe i could most likely shave off .1 maybe .2 if i was lucky. but i dont have enough time to break in a new set of gears before i leave

after thinking ab it for a minute, i think i overstalled this by a few hundred rpms....then again i am looking to switch out the cam for something more radical....i want something to rev to 6000 rpms in my 383

yeah you may be a TAD high on the stall right now if your peak hp is around 5300 but with that cam it will be perfect!!

Re: Times with LT headers/3500 stall
im hoping that the xr288 will make peak power at 6000 rpms give or take 100 rpms....if i hadnt had the stall so high right now, id have to take the darn transmission out again and send the converter off to get restalled...im alright with that...like i said i leave for japan in a couple weeks and wont even see the car for months. But when I get back from Iraq....its gonna be on like Donkey Kong!

Re: Times with LT headers/3500 stall
You need to be crossing the line 200 to 300 rpm above your power range. Get those 3.73's in and you should get some 1.6x 60ft times. Also get the car weighed with 1/2 tank of gas and you in the car.
Make sure you get that exhaust leak fixed also.
Congrats on the new times!!!

how bad would the exhaust leak hurt me? its at the header gasket....its pretty bad...i cant even see the gasket
i dont think 373s would make me drop .4 though, but it would certainly help. the 373s would put me right at the point you are talking or maybe slightly below it.

Re: Times with LT headers/3500 stall
Did you try flashing the convertor? Mine get's a worse 60 time when I try to stall it high and I am running a yank 3500 and 3.73's. Hold the brake and gas at 1000 rpm and then on the last yellow light floor it. Also, take off your front sway bar if you haven't already.

Didnt try flashing it, from what I read everybody that tries to do that gets a worse time.

Try both, mine left hard flashing and softer but more consistent when stalling at 2500.
