weight reduction tip and 1/4 mile tips?
im running a carbed 305 with a 700r4 with a shift kit and higher than stock converter but nothing big as a daily driver and 1/4 mile track car. i have eliminated everything to do with the ac and no heater either and added a harwood lift off hood. anything else i can do? im trying to get my 1/4 mile times down alittle and get my mph up. any other tips on 1/4 mile time would be appreciated.

get rid of the stock rear gears, they are killing you. Go with at least a 3.42

Whats the specs on the cam.
Why 400 heads, the compression will be low because they have big combustion chambers.

But right now you have lots of power options first, almost anything you do to the engine right now will gain you et - that when its fun.. The higher stall converter will lose weight also, and more rotational weight, light weight radiator depending if you have a copper one or the plastic/alum.. Lots of things. Ohh aluminumdriveshaft is another goodone, that will work off any ls1 car and most LT1s had them in 96 and some prior due to dealer recall.
Where do you live in SW PA? I am 15 miles south of Pittsburgh, Elizabeth. Race at PRP?

Lose the heads, try and find some 416 (car) or 601 (truck) 305 heads. Any head earlier than 86 wll fit that intake, and the ones from 86-95 but you have to grind the center intake holes to line them up.

If you still have the FI parts I'd go to a Holley stealth ram and get some decent Aluminum heads Trick Flow is good but anybodies will be better than what you have.
