How in the world...?!
It's not a third gen but maybe somebody could justify this. I recently helped my old man put together a 355 for his 72 Nova (full weight car). He ran a .510" cam and 1.6 roller rockers on a set of ported & milled hump heads (built by Baldwin Motion 15-20 years ago).
Through a 700R4 and a 2300 stall converter along with 3.73s and drag radials he put down an 11.2 1/4 and a 1.7 or 1.8 60' time. It caught me off guard. Does this sound wrong to anybody else too?! I saw time slips though and I know for a fact that was without the bottle because his spray plate is at my house.

Re: How in the world...?!
His MPH is probably good as well. The car probably doesn't weigh much. Motor probably makes 450Hp and car weighs 3200 or so will give you low 11's.

Re: How in the world...?!
A 350 with hump heads making 450 with a relatively small cam ( wouldnt really want a large cam with these heads anyway) is definitly not something so easy like most are saying because I have a 350 with AFR heads with a fairly large cam so what should I make 550? I havent went to the track or dyno tuned it yet but I dont expect that much. If I break 500 I would be happy and thats only 50 horsepower over a stock build up.
Not sure unless he is running a ton of compression or the car is making less HP and just really light. Either way great time though! Congrats

Re: How in the world...?!
Uh I wanna say it was low 130's, I don't really remember though. Next time I see him (god knows when) I'll ask. It's moving a 230-240 lb driver and when the car left my house 2 months ago it was stock suspension but I know he had ordered ladder bars.
I find it hard to believe his 60' was that good with that trap speed though so I might be wrong. It's a full interior car with sparco race seats, minus the back seat, full metal car. It's a street/strip car but it develops horrible low end vacuum.
I know it was plummed for the bottle, he said he wasn't on the bottle and he asked for his 150 shot perimeter plate so he should be able to sink deep into the 10's I'd imagine?
EDIT:
I know it's running flat tops and if I recall correctly the heads are milled to 62cc. He was rather running 100 octane Sunoco fuel or 108 octane track fuel.

Re: How in the world...?!
If you are correct about the trap speed which I think might be wrong he is definitly running some spray. 130 MPH in a 3200 pound car would be around 575 horse if I did my calculations correctly. No way that is coming out of some old heads. Let us know when you find out the actual MPH would be interested to see.

im calling bs. maybe with a 200 shot he ran that but no way with that engine/converter/full weight in a "street/strip" car. to have that 60' and still get it to go ~7.0's in the 1/8, his mph would have to be pretty dang nasty. no way in the world would he do with with a pair of double humps and .510 lift cam.

Unless you take the motor apart, there is no telling, you would be surprised what can be inside.

Re: How in the world...?!
Okay i'll do it.
This whole story is screwey. Best thing for you to do is find out what your talking about because it's a big mess.
No 350 with those heads, 510 lift cam and 2300 stall street converter is running 130+ or even low elevens.
Here's what happened...
A. Your father sprayed a very large NOS shot and is messing with you
B. Your father has all that junk mentioned but really ran 12.70 @ 110 and lied
C. Your father has a whole different comination and you just have no clue what he has.

Re: How in the world...?!
I posted it cause I 100% agree, I can't see how it ran that either. But I built the motor with him so I know what's done to it and I saw the time slip.

Re: How in the world...?!
I know of two guys that have gone deep into the 10's with double hump heads and a 355. It is possible. However, they both had light drag cars (3000lbs) with 4-links and 5000 stall converters. They also had over 12:1 compression and big solid roller cams. The one actually dipped into the high 9's, but he dialed it back for bracket racing. I would guess those motors were making 525HP.
