Sean, how do you like the Koni struts?? And what do the ground control spring and weight adjusters do???
Give me some more info on those.

TF, don't know how the NON smiley face got on there, but no way was I down. Sorry if it came across that way. That was an EXCELLENT time for a primarily street car with racing tires on it. I was very happy with myself. It was also my first podeum finish for the season.
Love the koni's, actually. They work very well at Hallett. I suspect they'll work for you almost anyway as well. The spring adjuster in the front are very similar to NASCAR spring and weight adjusters. I can adjust the corner weights, and ride height quite easily. The rears have adjusters as well, they were less expensive than the fronts however. I'm running 850 lb rate in the front, 200 lb rate in the rear. I also have about a 1 1/4" drop.

Colt,
By adjusting the corner weights I can change the way the car handles in a corner. Assume, for arguments sake, the car is pushing in turn 6. I can raise the weight in the right front by adjusting the left rear. Putting slightly more weight on the right front. Gets a little better grip in the corner, faster time thru the corner. Not exactly a perfect explaination, but should give an idea. According to Ground Control, the optimum ride height for roll center and handling is measured from the bottom of the wheel to the bottom of the fender on center with the wheel. Front should be 23", rear 24", if I remember correctly that is.

Hey Sean -
Great to see another road racer running a 3rd gen. I have a '92 Z28 that's setup for NASA CMC & SCCA ITE (Its not even remotely compeditive in ITE though =/).
I'm a bit curious about your suspension setup. Which Koni's are you running up front, are they single adjustable Sport shocks?
I'm going to be putting a fire system in, have you done that yet? I'm trying to sort out where to put the pull handle. I'm thinking of just punching a hole in the dash and mounting just to the right of the shifter.
Thanks!
- Nick

Nick - I started reading your post and thought for a second I had wrote it. I'm running a 91 in ITE and CMC, but I'm on the East Coast. I'm like you, not really very competative in ITE (what a wide range of cars to race!!), but sure is fun trying anyway! I can beat the Porshes and Vette's if I just give them a little tap in the rear as the go by in the corner......)(Just kidding).I have the handle for the fire bottle right next to the shifter. The bottle is were the right rear passenger would sit. I have the single adjust Koni's. Eibach springs all the way around. Car is a 1LE so all 1LE sway bars, etc.
We'll have to talk NASA into a East Coast/West Coast Championship race one day....

Nick,
Thank you. I don't have the same restrictions that you have with CMC/NASA. My fire bottle is mounted right behind the drivers seat, but doesnt require a remote ring. I'm using the single adjustable koni's up front, and KYB gas adjust in the rear. They seem to do quite well, along with the adjustable springs. While my RS is basically stock the only mods I have to the engine are a carter carb, performer intake, 1.6 rockers, MSD ignition, and hooker headers (shorties). My last race was my absolute best finish, and was very pleased with myself. I don't believe I'd be anywhere near competitive in ITE either. Currently I generally run against guys running tube frame chassis and 500+ HP. My two biggest advantages are rain and reliability. We only run a 12 lap race at Hallet, 11 turns 1.8 miles, so getting to the front IF you don't start there is tough.

Hey Nick!
My fire handle is mounted on the roll cage driver's left where I could reach or safety crew could reach. I also have a small bottle mounted on the passenger side I can reach. After seeing "smaller" fires, I don't want to drain my big bottle unless I have to, so I put the little bottle in.

I've got SAs in front, DAs in back.

Julie,
am running single adjustable up front, kyb gas adjust in the rears for now. may change those next season tho.
as to where to mount the ring, geez no clue really, but the dash idea sounds pretty good to me.
taking the camaro to the dyno tomorrow AM, see what type of wheel hp i'm getting. with the 305 I'll be lucky to get 150 to the wheels. am swapping in a 350 at the end of the month, if I can find one that is.
