No ****, guess i should been more specific in my question. Do i try to get the cars to give a verbal commitment first before i call the track?

Re: How do you go about organizing an event at a track?

i suppose it depends on your "idea". does your area have a market for your "idea"? is your "idea" already saturated and you don't know it? are you going to pitch this to Atco or Englishtown? both have pretty strict rules about events, and are owned by good-ole-boys that don't like outsiders, so i'd recommend getting in good with them before you start pitching ideas

Not looking to make or lose money just had a random idea that realistically will go nowhere cause prob be tough to get enough people to care.

That's NEVER been done! Brilliant!!

J/K

The first thing you do is secure insurance. No track will talk with you unless you have insurance.

Unless you're wanting to piggyback an event, like have a TPI vs. 5.0 event at a Friday Night Drags event. Then, I'd just go talk to the track management. They've probably done such a thing before.

again i help promote and run two events a year at a local track. You put up the cash for a 5-8 hour rental and then charge people to show up. Otherwise you're just talking about random cars showing up to a TnT and "maybe" lining up with each other. That's your two choices.

Re: How do you go about organizing an event at a track?

That is a very narrow crowd to host an event for depending on the camaro and mustang owners. You may also want to at least think about extending it to all camaro vs. mustang or all camaro vs. mustang vs. challenger/charger if your idea doesn't bring enough people. Call other small organizations that rent out tracks like the SCCA or other autocross organizations. They have to do this every race season.
