Re: AN fuel routing?

mine is down the passenger's side of the car, more torwards the subframe connector, then is snaked into the front subframe in front of the transmission crossmember where it goes into the engine bay and then comes out of the "frame rail" just behind the idler arm mount. i have a number 8 feed and a number 6 return both run there. I need to try to take some updated pictures of it.

Re: AN fuel routing?

I ran mine in the factory location. It's a carb'd setup with no return. I used 1/2" rigid line up to the firewall where it adapts to -8AN, goes over the bellhousing and then to the regulator which is mounted where the heater box used to be.

Regulator can't stay there if you intend to race the car

Re: AN fuel routing?

NHRA/IHRA Rules. regulator must be 6" forward of the plane of the flywheel. mount it to the engine man, way cleaner anyway.

from the rule book:

1:5 FUEL SYSTEMS
Location: All fuel tanks, lines, pumps, valves, etc. must be outside
of the driver’s compartment and within the confines of the frame
and/or steel body. Cool cans, fuel-distribution blocks, etc. must be
located at least 6 inches forward of the flywheel/bellhousing area on
rear-wheel-drive (RWD) vehicles, and on opposite side of
flywheel/housing area on front-wheel-drive (FWD) vehicles.
Fuel
pressure gauge isolators, with steel braided line, may be mounted
on firewall.

With the possibility of a clutch explosion now on my car, i won't want the fuel stuff anywhere near the flywheel area, lol!

I routed mine up and away for this reason. I might run into this sooner than later...

Do you have any pics of where you ran the lines? Did you have to drill holes in the frame rails? I am looking to run the same size lines, but was planning to stay on the driver side.

passenger's side right behind where the idler would mount:

yes, you have to drill holes.

Re: AN fuel routing?

Thanks for the pics. Looks good and well protected.

Without cutting, I was having a difficult time with my line routing in a manner that didn't make them susceptible to damage.

Where did you cross over from the driver side sender lines to passenger side?

Re: AN fuel routing?

my tank has a sump, so it comes out of the sump and goes to the passenger's side.

I run at 3 tracks, and all of them will boot you for having the regulator on the firewall (and ironically, let you run with bigger infractions)

i ran mine through the framerail, and mounted the regulators here. I drilled a hole in the frame back by the transmission, and here, and ran a -8 line through the frame.

Re: AN fuel routing?

Here's how I did it, this is for a FI LS swap used the stock sending unit and unmodified 3rd gen tank. I took these pictures before I finished the fuel system, I've since added in grommets on everything to keep it from damaging the lines.

Using the Corvette fuel filter the return line goes back to the tank, the feed line now loops back around and heads towards the front of the car.

Then runs through the subframe connector.

Comes out there and through a hole I cut on the inside of the fender where it eventually passes through another hole just underneath the rail the fender is bolted to. Again, everything has grommets on it now, that fuel system should outlast the car.
