Good news on the new Trans Am. What did you get? What questions do you have?
Al,
You coming over to play at Fish's too? Turning into a gathering - cool!

Yeah. DS might even be making it. Can't decide between this and a wheeling trip. So I may be rocking his jeep since he'll want to take the pathfinder. Supreme Member

He wants to get his white bird running. Ditching the crossfire for a zz4 intake and carb and also swapping transmissions. Chevymad and I were coming up to help the lad out but now it is starting to sound like a party... break my heart

Re: Whats going on with cascade crew website
No, because the DNS through our host needs to properly direct the domain name to us. Since I was cheap, and didn't get a dedicated server. When the DNS does go through, the forums may not work yet (or will be dated from July), I am having trouble importing the fresh back-up of the database. I had a backup from July 17th, that Imported OK, but I am working on getting the data imported from the backup from right before the change.

Lame dude. Too bad you can't host it personally from a linux box running apache or something. Hope you figure it out soon, I'm starting to itch from withdrawal!

Re: Whats going on with cascade crew website
You don't want me too. I have a spare linux box I could host it on. But I am on comcast, and the upload speed is not very good. Peformance wise, hosting it like we do is the way to go, once we get the switch over done, all will be good. I just hope I can get the data imported. If I had full shell access as root, I could get it, but they are not keen on giving me that kind of access, so I have to work with the hosting companys DBA's and try to get them to get the data imported.

Lame. I played with linux while i was at school. i had my box hacked into twice in two quarters so I closed down non .edu access. I used it for circuit board design.

Re: Whats going on with cascade crew website
You probably didn't see my post before it went down. Basicly, they wouldn't take my new credit card, they inisted I give them Jesse's updated experation date. That couple with the issues we have had over the last year with the site, we switched hosting company's. The DNS seems to have gone through, I am uploading the site now. I don't know what is going to happen with the forum, I am going to have to work on getting the databases recreated and imported.

Re: Whats going on with cascade crew website
Yeah, everything went pretty smooth, execpt the databases. The "backup" I got from ipowerweb seems to be useless. I am working with our new hosts (godaddy) to try to get it imported somehow. I am also good friends with one of the DBA's in my office, so he is looking at it also. He may come over tomorrow night, have a few beers, and try to get the DB stuff fixed. I am thinking what I may have to do, is set up mysql on my linux box, and force the data in manualy here, then properly export the data so we can import it on the new system. I'll get it figured out, I am just trying to do it sooner than later.

Re: Whats going on with cascade crew website
man... i thought the DNS change was just taking a while to propagate. thanks for the update john, and mods, thanks for not locking/deleting this.
so in other news... my company rented me a car since i'm on site in eugene this week, it was supposed to be an SUV but i managed to fit four days worth of site equipment into a 2006 ford mustang.
so i am currently driving for the wrong team.

Re: Whats going on with cascade crew website
zing!
so further review of the mustang.
audio system. crappy. like the stock garbage in my 86 2.8 sounds better.
cargo capacity, impressive. though the back seat offers less foot room then a thirdgen.
performance. well, it's faster then my 2.8... but thats about it. the fun factor is way hampered by the automatic transmission, the torque converter needs some help, there is a long delay from me hitting the gas to the car actually moving. unacceptable. it's not as *** heavy as a thirdgen, so ebrake sliding requires a little more speed, and the placement of the brake leaver makes it awkward. braking is nice. gas millage is nice.
interior is comfortable, but ugly. with the steering wheel in a usable position it is difficult to see the speedometer gauge. (well, above 60 anyway). the seatbelt buckle is positioned to far down in the seat, making buckling the seatbelt a chore. fit and finish is nice though, much better then most ford interiors i have been exposed too.
unfortunatly i do not have a gt model, so i am probably testing this car out with it's base engine options.. but i am real unimpressed with the car as a whole. one thing though.. it's top end acceleration is amazing (for a six). 60-100 is probably as quick as my L98. and the ride is very soft.

Re: Whats going on with cascade crew website
the mustang interior is comfy?
the hell?
seriously?
the GT was on my list of testdriven cars...
out of the lot, it was by far the WORST ... and come on, I'm used to 3rd and 4thgen camaros ...
granted, before settling on my SS, my list consisted of the Mustang GT 5spd, GTO 6.0 with both auto and the 6 speed, CTS V (6 speed), Solistce 5spd, 06 STI... just for ***** I also drove SUV's, and 4bangers (and I used to have an 05 Scion tC ) ...
but when it came down to it, I got the better deal on my SS... it's faster, more comfortable, LIGHTER, has a 6spd vs. a 5spd, and it's got ****ing T-Tops...
I never seriously considered the GT, I drove it because I got a $50 gift card for doing it... but after driving it, I'd never want to buy one... small on the inside, uncomfortable as hell, no get up and go vs. my SS... I mean seriously, I even got a warranty with my SS (keep in mind it's a 2001 and when I bought it it had less than 14k on it), so even the GT didn't beat it out for that...
the new mustangs are a step up for sure, but man, they certainly do still suck.
a lot

Re: Whats going on with cascade crew website
Update for Thursday....
I got the database back-up from July 17th imported. The problems was, this was the database back-up I had from when I was doing the garage update. Because of this, it is giving errors. I will either need to fix the tables to include the garage information, or I will need to take the garage feature out. I'll work on that tonight, so we may not be to 100%, but it will be usable.

Re: Whats going on with cascade crew website
further review of the stank... i mean stang.
throttle response is soooo slow with the auto i can't even get the rear end to kick out. i can however rip a sweet 180* using the traction control leaver. (ebrake).
upon closer inspection the speakers are not that bad... it's just that the whole door panel almost vibrates off if you turn it up to a reasonable volume. while it has less individual sources of vibration then my 21 year old GM car, it is by far worse, and it only has 30K. as usual i am less then impressed with the fit and finish of a ford interior.
i popped the trunk and lifted it open with the spoiler/wing (like i always do with my firebirds) and the damn thing started to come off! it's glued on! not since the foam rubber spoiler on a 240SX have i seen such a bad idea on a stock spoiler.
20 MPG highway. WTF? my six can knock out 25 without even trying, and has peaked at 35 under extreme fluke conditions.
the cruise control. amazingly accurate. i don't know if all new cars are like this, but i was impressed with it's razor sharp accuracy, there was no lull when you hit a hill, it was on top of it. in fact, i think the car has better throttle response with CC then it does with the gas pedal.
one source of amusement, there is a glow-in-the-dark pull string in the trunk that you can pull to pop the trunk latch from inside the trunk. it has a little picture of a dude jumping out of the trunk and running away from the car. ala escaped kidnapping. i thought that was funny.
also, by comfortable, i meant tolerable. the seats have almost NO side support. one more complaint about the seats. the fold forward to allow access to the rear seats, much like an fbody seat. however unlike an fbody seat, the ford seats do not return to their prior position when you fold them back, they return to their full upright position. this means every time you access the backseat, you must re-adjust your seat back. GM managed to have this problem solved as far back as 1986. yet here it is 20 years later (2006 model year mustang) and ford has not gotten the memo. if i owned one of these the first thing i would do is get some real chairs... but if you are going that far you might as well just get a whole new car.
as far as engine, if they have not changed it in two years it has the 210hp 4.0L SOHC v6. i looked it up and found that for the 2008 model years.
my overall opinion can be summed up in one phrase:
"so this is the mustang eh.. they can keep it."
