Don't know if I should
I am thinking about buying a 1986 iroc-z camaro for $2200 off of cragislist.(here is the link http://lewiston.craigslist.org/cto/3645748253.html )
I am currently looking for a new car and i have always wanted a camaro. i realize that i am going to have some work to do to make it what i want but this is something i really want to do... any input?

Re: Don't know if I should
That looks like a pretty descent IROC for 2200. The air shocks in the rear worry me. The rear shock mounts are not made the hold the weight of the car like that and can cause the mounting area to be damaged or even punch through. Other than that the car looks to be in over good shape considering the price.

Looks good, if there is rust on the underside tell him 1500 or no deal.

Re: Don't know if I should
Thanks I appreciate the info you guys gave me. im going to see if i can take a close look at it on tuesday. that is if i can get my phone working to contact the guy. any more input is very welcome. I'm kinda new to working on cars, im not an expert but im not completely incapable. I really want this to work out so that i can learn a lot more about it. also my dad is going with me and he has more experience so i won't be completely in the dark.

Re: Don't know if I should
I'm just kind of curious as to why someone wouldn't even bother to wash the car before placing the ad. My concern would be that it hasn't been taken care of. That said, looks like a good starting point.

That's exactly what I was thinking, but you never know until you see it in person. Supreme Member

If I'm looking at a car and the owner can't take the time to wash it and take decent pictures, then I immediately click back and move on.
I've always been boggled by this.

When i talked to him on the phone he sounded older (mid 60s) so i im gonna guess it wasn't some young kid hotrodding it around.

Re: Don't know if I should
well i decided to buy it i payed 2000 for it, it will need a lot of work but it runs good and there is no rust. there are only a few dings on the passenger side other than that the body is pretty straight. again thank all of you for your input.

Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the club. Now how about some decent pictures after you get it cleaned up and let us know how it's working out.
