Need help Fast

I have a messed up Rod on my Camaro and has bent the crank. It needs to be replaced NOW!!!!! It has a 2.8L and a 700R4 so I need the same engine or something that will bolt right in and it needs to be cheap. Plus to make things worse I'm in Laramie Wyoming I'll pay for shiping as soon as I can afford one. So I need some advice do I replace the engine right away or do I get another car.

If you can, get a 3.4L from a 93-95 Firebird. If not, any 2.8 or 3.1 from a Thirdgen will do.

If you haven't checked already, ask on the V6 board for some help too.

Aren't you the guy who was going to do the engine swap? Why waste time with a new V6?

You should be able to find a used longblock (or a shortblock for that matter) dirt cheap. They were only used in almost everything for 10 years. S-10/S-15's, F-bodies, Fiero's, alot more I can't remember.

Check out the local junkyards there man. I think there is one over the bridge on 3rd, down by the turn off down Grand Ave. I cant rememember the name of the place off the top of my head. Also, I know that Cheyenne and Ft. Collins have really good junkyards. Hope that helps man...

You didnt blow your motor while you were racing in the Techer 500 did you?

Just get an old crappy Civic or something. You're going to need another set of wheels when you do the swap. Might as well get it now and let the 'Bird sit. You'll be ahead money wise in the long run.

You cannot use any of the FWD 2.8s or 3.1s... they are a different motor.

I don't actually remember how they are different, but it has something to do with the way they mount sideways and such... all I know is that a 3.4 motor isn't an option in a FWD car.

No I did not blow it up on the Tecker 500 Roshambo. It is not blown yet. Here is what has happend the piston rings have worn down to cause piston slap which caused the Rod to bend because the piston would not move evenly. The bent rod has caysed the crank to to whare out the barrings fast and the crank to bend. I can drive it but I don't want to be driving when it finnaly goes. just to let you know the fastest car on the Tecker 500 that is not "pushing juice" is a Blue Third Gen Trans AM.

Right on, when I was there it was a 1969 Z/28 with a Corvette LT1 (the FI kind)

Which classes are you taking anyways?

Right on. Who are your instructors? Have fun dealing with OBD crap in EMS 2

So you figure out what to do with the Camaro yet?

I have Jack Longrass and Tim Brocaw (EMS B) and we just finished OBD 1 and OBD 2 lecture and have half a day in the shop with it.

For the camaro I'm just going to put in what I can find and put it in at a guy in my classes house over dead week at the end of the month.

so did you go to teck?
