Beater is gone
I signed over the white beater on Sunday. Hopefully the kid I sold it to has fun with doing an engine swap...

AAAUUUGGGHHH! I got the title changed over and everything legal-wise is taken care of at my end, but the kid goes on leave for the holiday, right? Okay, I cruise on by the beater where it's parked, you know, making sure it's still there for him and all for when he get's back. He has the keys, so I can't up and re-park it if I want to, which is what makes this tale worse. I had told him a week ago that he needs to re-park it, but he wasn't around to tell him in person, so I was forced to leave a message on his phone. He hadn't left for leave yet. No return call, nothing. Not my problem, right? Well, yesterday I criused on by the car, like I was saying, and the REAR HATCH GLASS IS BROKE OUT.
"What in the name of Zeus' armpit is THAT?" I am heard to say.
All gone, bye bye, and it's been raining like crazy all over. I can only imagine the kiddie pool forming back there. I didn't have time to stop to take a closer look, wish I did, but I plan on dping that after I get off of work today. The short of it is, I need a replacement hatch. However, until the new owner gets back, I'm stuck as to what I can do to it, because the hatch is locked and still latched to the rest of the car.
Lord, and I thought I was done having car troubles, and this time, it isn't even MY car anymore. I'll cut him a huge deal on the price (he hasn't paid me for it yet, I don't even think I should charge him for it at the rate it's going now) and help him put the replacement hatch on it. How heavy are those things anyway?

Oh, yeah, that's right... I'll have to wait before I can do that, though, I have no keys. Is this hatch off the GTA? It would look very tacky, but then again, it isn't my car and I'm sure he won't mind, as long as the hatch locks adn keeps kiddie pools from appearing in the trunk. I'll give him a call once I get home and let him know that there's a replacement I can get. Thanks a bunch!
(And yeah, I know they're heavy, I've changed struts out on them twice. I was just wondering if anyone had a weight figure on them off the top of their head.)

hmm
my struts are dead, and it sure is a pain in the *** to lift up the hatch, full dead weight id say it probably weighs in excess of a 100 pounds.

Well, I already signed over the bill of sale and sent in my portion to the DMV, so legally, it isn't mine anymore. Plus, it isn't his only car, and he wanted it for a 'project car'. Well, it's certainly a project now... I was only going to ask for 600 for it before all of this stuff happened, but I'll probably take a mere 300 and get the hatch for him and everything. It still runs and everything. (Or did, who knows now?) He has a nice 300ZX he's going to leave stock, that's his daily driver. I'll keep you all posted.
