HEADS

For what engine. I have a set of heads #601 53cc for a 305 that will raise the compression since it has lower cc than the standard 305 heads. Usually they come with 58cc heads. Let me know if this is what you are looking for. I've also been told that installing 1.94 intake valves and mild porting, these heads will flow better than the vortec heads.

They will be going on a 350 punched 40 with flat top pistons, a comp cam magnum 305H cam, long tube headers, performer RPM airgap intake with a 750 double pumper. I had a set of Sportsman II heads that performed great. They were 64cc with 2.02 / 1.60 valves. I would like to go back with a similar setup. How do the Vortec heads flow compared to aftermarket heads such as sportsman II.

My vortec 906 head specs= are all right here... Look at all the previous test cfm before they ported them, these that I have are untouched btw. Lol my heads are untouched and your talken about porting etc, vortec heads=one of the best budget heads out of the box in the market.

vortec info = Vortec CS GM head
sportsman II info = http://www.worldcastings.com/tech/SportsmanIITech.pdf

sportsman II

at .500" lift intake = 240 cfm/ exhaust = 164 cfm

Vortecs

at .500" lift intake = 228.8 cfm / exhaust = 147.6 cfm

just the facts...

Would I see very much difference in performance using the vortecs over the sportsman II and are they 64cc heads?
