I figured you guys would like to see these.
You can also see the only place I screwed up on the the headers. On the crossover tube. The passenger side where it merges isnt exactly the smoothest transition. Unfirtunatley I was out of tubing and wasnt going to purchase anymore. I figure that next winter I will redo the y-pipe and make it a little more eficient.

Anyway, on to the photos.
Enjoy.

Damn Guido,

What kind of time are you going to be looking for with that cage? That thing is what I would call involved.

Looks good, but man, what a lot of work. Better you than me...

Are you building the cage yourself as well? That looks like 4130 chromoly tubing?

Im not building the cage myself but it is also not a purchased kit. A friend I work with has been into racing for quite a long time and has done quite a few cages. He has his own tubing bender and is custom bending everything to fit.

It isnt chromoly either. Unfortunatley. It is legal mild steel.

It looks great. I thought it was chromoly because on those rear 'x' bars, I noticed the "candy cane" spiraling in the tubing, that's usually more noticeable in chromoly - at least from what I've seen.

Looks like you're serious about running 9's

Hey Guido,

I've been meaning to ask you what size down pipe are you planning on running. I'm assuming that you're going for atleast 1000 hp. I'm just trying to figure out if I really need to go 3" off of each turbo or if I can get away with 2.5's. What do you think. The guy I'm gonna let do my down tubes says he's got grand national guys running 8's of a single 3.5" down tube and doesn't see any reason why I can't get my power out of two 2.5's....I'm just trying to get a little input before I start converting a bunch of crap under my hood..........Thanks

Damn dude! You've got a car a 5 year old would love to play in He he he. Lookin' good so far. Could you snap a few pictures of the front and main hoop mounts? Why go with the second vertical brace 1' forward of the main hoop? Chromemoly is legal in both NHRA and SCCA, but you need to TIG it, rather than MIG. I think only NASCAR forces you to go with mild steel DOM. Getting the dashboard on will be a PITA, but a few of the board/list guys suggested a hollow fiberglass dash that looks OEM. I finished up the mounts for the Sparco Evo on Sunday, and will probably TIG the rear diagonals to the main hoop tonight.

A.

Looking really good

I don't know how I'd get into it with that cage - hard enough with the 8-point bar I have, not that I have any intentions of ever being legal for 9's even after my stage 2 motor is done(typical hot rod fashion, starting a new motor before the first one hits the street )

My dash isnt going to be hard to put back in. The tabs that hold it are still there. We notched them and welded the tubes in around them.

Even though this is an all mild steel cage, carrol (cage guy) still TIG welds all the tubing in. It makes for a nice weld with no splatter either. Everything looks very professional.

Carrol also built a new mount for my racing seat too. It came ou pretty trick. When I get the car back home and can take some better pictures I will get them. I dont really have any of what you are asking for Andris. Sorry.

Im not quite sure why the side bar ahead of the hoop is there. The NHRA rule book doesnt list that until you are going 7.50's but Im not going to argue wiht some extra safety in light of some of the wrecks (and death) that have happened recently.

im very pleased with how it is turning out.

Lil qwik, Im going to run a 4" single DP. I would thikn dual 2.5" would work for you but I say the larger the better. The less restriction the better.

Which one?

If anyone gives me the "rice" crap, I just go home and bust out the T/A. Best of both worlds, homey...

Yep. That's for the Supra. The T/A might be raced at sanctioned tracks that have EFI events. I would make more money on the street with the Supra:

Unaware Mustang owner + 9-second Supra = $$$$$$
