Twin Superchargers ???

A while ago on tv(Horsepower TV I think?) they had a thirdgen camaro with 2 superchargers(one on each side of the engine bay) which came together at a y shaped pipe then went into the TPI. I think they said it had like 800 hp or something, not sure though. Anyways my question is when you have 2 of them like that, what exacly does it do? Do you get twice the boost by adding the 2 boost levels togheter? Do you just get more the same boost with more cfm? Do the 2 superchargers "fight" each other at all? Just a few questions from the experts.

Thanks
Kevin

It's the same concept as 2 turbos, you don't double the psi, but you double the air flow. You want to check out toohighpsi.com.. He built a twin supercharged Thunderbird with a 351. The superchargers are off of V6 supercharged turbo coupes.. DEFINATLY worth a read, awesome site!

Cheers!

so pretty much using 2 small superchargers would be the same as using 1 big one ???

I though with twin turbos they ran at different speeds so that one would make boost at lower RPM, and then the other would kick in when your going faster?

Some turbo setups are sequential, which is what you're describing. Most twin turbo setups are just two identically sized turbos that work in tandem.

Currently doing a TPI version of Mike's idea on my malibu. Have one M90 mounted and running, waiting on materials to mount the second M90. Will post a few pics shortly once I get both mounted. cheers, Bob

So whats the benefit of the sequential turbo setup ??? would it be possible or worth while to do something like that with superchargers?

Sorry for the dumb questions, just trying to learn some of this stuff about power adders.

Not really possible that i cant think of, as they're ran by belt, not by gases. At least, certaintly not cost-effective.

And BTW, the majority of the import turbo guys who's cars start out with sequential twin turbo setups (RX-7s, Supras, etc) convert over to single turbo. Less plumbing, less hassles
