Time to spray?!?!?!?

Hello,

After really reading over the board and seeing what some 1/4 times are with mods I have come to the realization that my 305 bird will never truly fly unless investing some big bucks.

Here is the plot: I have an 88 305 T.P.I Formula with basic add ons:

Hypertec Chip

Headers

Vortec Heads

Airfoil

K&N

NGK's with Accel wires

ETC.

Also I have a very high performance neck braking tranny wih 2500 stall and am getting 3.73
s (do not know if that makes a difference)

Anyways, how much nitrous do you think I can SAFELY run?

Thanks,
MIke

Summit sells the kit but it is on the website and not the catalog. It is a NOS plate system, plate goes between TB and plenum, I have run this kit before and it works great, the fuel feed comes off your fuel rail schreader valve, and the kit is pretty complete, however it is pricy at $549 and comes with 10lb bottle (unfilled) With Nitrous it is the nickle-dime stuff that gets you (remote bottle opener, bottle blanket, bottle heater, guages, purge valve kit, ETC) these items do not come with the kit, and you may not want or need them but they will surely bring up the price, remote bottle opener alone is about $140-$200.

i was just looking at that kit last night......it might just be what i'm looking for. did you install yours yourself?? or did u have a shop do it. that'll be my only real decision i guess. $549 is enough to spend so if at all possible, i'd like to do it myself.

I installed it myself, took about 4 hours, it is real easy, however "during the installation I added a nitrous pressure guage on the pillar which added some time. The kit is very good, but also very basic, some extras I would suggest are the remote bottle opener ($180) and a purge kit ($95). As you can see you can put some money into it, but some of this stuff you can do gradually after you have installed and ran the kit. Don't expect "The fast and the furious" kick like in the movie (Hollywood stuff) especially if you hit it when already at speed, but my 1/4 mile times did go down on the average of 1.1 sec, but that is just an average and depends on conditions. I am also considering installing the kit on my B4C and do a couple of runs. I am sure you have run nitrous before, just don't keep that button pushed to long in the moment or "BANG" and then your day will be ruined.

Just ordered that kit last night $549 from summit, will install next weekend, should get the B4C into the low 13's.

the purge kit is used to clear the nitrous lines so you get a nice cool shot and the remote opener lets you open the bottle from the driver seat.

if you run nitrous, put the stock chip back in. there will be a warning in the instruction manual.

what cobra said, DO NOT SPRAY with the aftermarket chip in there. the timing curves are much too aggressive for nitrous use.
