Might want to post over in the Carburetor section or Tech/General engine. This area's for superchargers, turbos, nitrous and other "big power adders."

15's are possible with an lg4. My '86 camaro ran a 16.3 with 28 inch tires, one leg 2.73 rearend, 130k miles, K&N filter, no cat or mufflers, and tipping the scales at 3450(driver included). But that is long gone. Had to make room for a TT350.

I ran 16.5 in my 87 lg4 with 275/60s, 3.08 gears, a soft clutch, no traction, .800 lights, and missin 2nd and 3rd - traps in 3rd gear. 15s with shorter tires, a new clutch and a new driver : (.

heres a trick, get 3.73 gears. It will make ur car quicker. As for the engine, my old 86 had a lg4 305 and I have a HUGE GTO 4 barrel on it. It loved it. It wasnt super fast but it was better. But dont put serious money intot he LG4....its a waste.

I would love to bury a 406 under a LG4's clothing with maybe a different intake, and retune the carb? the streeters would never see you coming niether would the smog stations

Will a computer controlled q-jet flow for a 400? I am sirously thinking about putting a 400 in my car and re useing all of the stock 400 crap - manifolds carb distro and stuff. I luve the Idea of poping the hood and having everyone thinking I've got a stock 305.

It will not be without its problems but isnt it a 795 CFM carb? the timing curve for a 305 would be awsome for a 400, different metering rods for the carb would be a must. if GM can make a CARB legal kit for a 305 to 350 why couldnt a guy make a 400 work? "no really mr. smog dude its a 305", "really? it sniffs way cleaner than the state requires, good job..."

the NOX's and HC's allowed even in cali on an LG4 are massive, when I emmisioned my TPI 415 with punched cat that had been installed in my carbed 3rd gen it passed with flying colors on the sniffer at the referee, the visual was fixed by re-attaching the EGR vacuum line that had inadvertantly fallen off.
