stupid questions...

Sorry I know I sound like a dumbass asking these questions, but I've never considered getting a turbo engine before so I haven't ever learned about it. Could somebody explain to me how a turbo works? Does it connect to the throttle body in place of air intake? If I was to get a turbo., would I need to get an engine that came with a turbo, or can a turbo be hooked up to a normal engine? Also, what's the difference between a supercharger and a turbocharger? Well that's all my questions, sorry I'm so uninformed about all of this. If you reply, keep in mind that you're explaining this to a guy who knows NOTHING about turbochargers/superchargers so if you feel like going into alot of detail, please do

thanks, that helps alot...i guess my only question that wasn't answered on that page is how does the exhaust gas get to the turbo? also, if a turbo uses exhaust gases to power itself, how does exhaust still escape from the car? is only some of the exhaust gas fed into the turbo while the rest exits through the exhaust?
