Accel Gen VII

Hello all,
I just installed the Accel Gen VII in my '89 305 firebird and the car runs great. The problem I am haveing is my Spedo is not working. All wires are hooked up to the tranny. When I turn the key the spedo needle maxes out, then back to zero and stays there. Any suggestions on getting the spedo to work.

This question would be better asked over in the DFI forum.

Did you perform the install yourself, i'm asking cause i have the new DFI gen VII w/wb 02 and am getting ready to install mine. But i have alot of questions. that i can't seem to find answers for in the software help section.

My '88 IROC has a cable driven speedo...fwiw.

Its fixed,
Had to put ground on the yellow box. I did not do the install, the computer guy spend about 5 hours on the dyno making the map. I asked alot of questions also, however I will answer all that I know of.

Brad,

I just finished F.A.S.T. install and I am awaiting dyno time to tune. My speedometer is also inoperative after removing the factory computer. Where is this magical yellow box and where do I ground it?

Thanks,
Hank O.

Hank,
Check out this link http://www.hioutput.com/tech/speedo.html
The yellow box is under the passenger side kick plate next to your old ecm. Once I grounded the unit the spedo worked like a champ. Any more questions just ask. Good Luck

STI = Self Test Input.

Hook a lamp/LED up to the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) Output and when you ground the STI line, error codes will be flashed out on the MIL line. You could also hook up the MIL line to the idiot/SES indicator on your dash (if you have one).

I think about as good as you will get is the electronic version that is included with the latest version of CalMap.
