I have stock GM internals consisting of cast pistons, lt1/lt4 rods, and a cast crank. I would like to run a 100 or less shot of nitrous. I have 9.6:1 compression which I feel is kinda high but heres what I thought Id do. Put a small 2-3 gallon fuel cell in the hatch with 110 sunoco racing fuel. And a secondary fuel pump.
This probably isnt needed but would help prevent detonation when using nitrous. I will also run a fuel pressure safety switch, MSD rev limiter, and the mentioned fuel cell.
If I did this would I be pretty safe? I know people run nitrous on stock bottom ends without safety precautions as mentioned.
If I still had the original motor I probably would to but I just spent 1500$ on a GM crate so I dont wanna blow it up just yet. Not till I find a nice 400 to build anyways.

you will be fine with a 100 shot even 125. I ran 100-150 on my stock l98 for 2 years and it had 150k on it. just be safe and not greedy and you will be ok.

You can run a 100 shot safely on a stock 305 TBI.
You think the fuel cell idea would be a good idea. I figure I would be much safer doing that. Im sure I dont need to but better safe than sorry.

No to the fuel cell. Just get a good kit like the NOS 5151 kit and run 100 shot and have fun. Originally posted by 88Camaro350

Kit 5151 is the wrong kit for me. Thats a TPI kit. Im running carb. I have a ton of options on which kit to run. I need to get a high volume fuel pump. Im running a stock 305 TBI pump right now.
Im gonna get a good inline pump and run a line off my fuel pressure regulator for the fuel soleniod. This should work well enough since I dont plan on a huge shot of nitrous.
Anyone had any luck with edelbrock nitrous kits?

Do you still have the stock electric fuel pump running ?
If so, buy a NOS cheater kit, hook it up....then buy "Y-block" and another fuel pressure regulator to split orignal line to send it to Nitrous fuel selinoid(sp)
The electric pump will supply more tahn yo ned to be safe, you actually have to regulate it down....
I did the exact same thing on my car, ITS INCREADIBLE...

Tim Burgess is running Nitrous on stock internals and is in the 11's!

... and a 305 at that! But guys, although Tim is the original owner of his '92Z and the engine has never been out of the car, not much else is stock.... except the heads!! Stock heads? 11's? Incredible! Emissions-legal and daily driven!! Even more incredible!!

Thats not Traxion is it?
Traxion is running 11's on a stock l98 block. But he has no n2o or boost. Wait it cant be it isnt a 92 z28 its an IROC.

He goes by "Tim Burgess". Imagine that, someone who uses his real name! He's the Electronics board moderator. He's an electrical engineer. Perfect fit!!
