Well, 305 bites the dust.
I got the car back together and running today. i started it it sounded great, oil presure was good. I let the car idle for a few mins to let it warm up to set the timing. After about a 5 min warm up the car started to make the woorst noise I've ever heard a car make. All the while it was making the noise the oil presure droped to around 10 from 60 psi (after market guage). I let the car sit and check the oil everything looked good started the car, started fine oil presure around 40 psi big thud oil presure reading 0 psi and car about shuck itself to pieces. Needless to 305 stock long block (besides LT1 cam)+142,000 miles+100 shot outa the hole+a little to much timing(14*BTDC)=nitrous backfire with masive engine damage. Prior to taking the top of the engine apart #2 and #8 spark plugs were trashed and guess here the major knock was coming from
. O'h well 350 time, I was going to rebuild the one in the grarge, but I think a create engine sounds much better. ZZ4 with SD vortec TPI base, looks like the best bang for the buck. Unless anyone has a LB9 short block for me, I'd still like to put a 305 in to the 11's.

OK, smart guys. I fixed it, it's only a 100 not 1000. I guess I should have proofed it a little better. Next year I'll be a little closer to a 1000 shot still not even half though.
