the Blower cam i ordered, opinions?

well, it's too late to go back now, because i had my engine guy talk to his guy at Lunati,... this is the cam they will grind for me,. and this is what i got: 220/230 @.050 460/480 lift. 114 LSA. It's in the same ballpark as the ones you guys recomended, and my heads flow pretty good, so it should be fine,.. i went 114 like you guys said. Anyway, i trust Lunati, I'm not to sure why they went w/ such a large spread on the lift(and relatively low lift),.. but i guess it'll be fine. i have a feeling you guys may say something about the lift. maybe i got a good recomendation,.. maybe not, but it should work fine. any comments? please no bashing.

Sounds decent, the lift is a bit low from what i would have expected, is it roller or flat tappet?, but it may get there quick and spend a lot of time around peak lift. As for the wide spread betwen the lobes, it's fairly common for a cam designed for blowers, extra mixture in means more exhaust to get out. Lotsa factors come into that though. Let us know how it works, it'll be interesting to see.

yeah, who knows. I am just assuming that it won't be a "bad" cam. Maybe it'll be great, maybe it won't be as good as some of the other grinds,.. but it should work pretty well with the computer. can't i up the lift with 1.6 rockers if necessary? thanks

yeah, i was gonna run it w/ the 1.5's at first and then bump it up to 1.6's maybe,.. have to see if my heads and springs can take it.

You need'nt have bothered with a custom Lunati grind for this

Could have just bought a Crane HMV278-2. Its and off the shelf grind and very blower friendly.

specs are 278-290 222-234@.050" .467/.494' 114LSA.

A very sweet street blower cam.

Could have saved the extra cost of a custom grind.

well, atleast i know i'm in the right ballpark,. i like lunati, and i am getting a deal on it, because my machinist gets them cheap. he ordered it for me,.. should be cheap, and this way i know its right.

With your heads Id start out with 1.6 rockers...

will put you at 490/512 lift which is still on the safe side for sure...and still will have manners on the street as well...

I thought anything over .500 lift, the springs may need to be changed.

depends on the springs....Since you have aftermarket heads you are probably fine.... Trick Flow would be able to tell you...BUT typically I would buy the springs that are specific for my cam anyway...verus trying to buy a cam thats right for my springs...because springs are cheap...

yeah, i gues i'll do baseline runs w/ the 1.5's and then I can upgrade to 1.6's and worry about the springs then, thanks

That cams almost identical to the Comp Cams 276HR-14 #08-305-8 With 220/230 @ 50dur and .510/.510 lift and 114 lsa.

Thats the cam I plan on useing with my setup. Thanx now I am abit more confident that it will work fine

I think he has a great combo; SuperRam with a 220/230 is perfect for those heads... add the intercooled boost and you have a pretty crazy setup if you ask me.

I think his injectors are too small though, 26Lb/Hr on 12 PSI of intercooled boost? And hes using an FMU... I can hear the fuel pump already.

I agree.. 26ers are on the small side.

My 305 with 12 lbs, ran with 30's, and I was running out of DC with those.

New motor will run 36 lb injectors, and it might need even larger injectors yet.
