What about NOS!

i have a 1987 305 tpi auto iroc and want alittle more boost. i was thinking of buying one of those NOS kits off ebay. People have been telling me not to put NOS on my car though cause it will just tear my engine apart. What should i do i dont wanna blow it right away.

Thats for Sure. The Kids around here think that all Nirtous Systems Are N.O.S When it stands for Nirtous Oxide Systems!!! Not to mention that most import engines have Low Low Toqure untill 3500 + Rpms What is the point of having HP if no Toqure.. Not to mention the Damn Exhaust that Sounds like Some One welded a Flogers Coffey Can to a Exhaust Pipe.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Cant say I agree with you on the import thing. My buddies Civic is running a 13.1 on a 50 shot spinning through 3rd. His car is quite a sleeper.

theres a annoying black CRX at our local 1/8th mile track... runs a 8.2-8.1.... stock 4cyl..... it just isnt the same stock 4cyl that came in the car.

anyhoo... directed at the orignal starter of this thread:

What about NOS!
.

well.... what about it?
are you asking if its safe? its only safe as the person that uses it.

with the proper saftey devices and correct usage, its perfectly fine..

but you have to ask yourself..... do i really know what the hell it is and how it works? do i know how to use it safely? or do i still have alot to learn before i go bolting on a 125 shot to my motor and blowing it?

my suggestion is to read up and learn before you buy(or blow up) anything.

ive been thinking about that recently....

im thinking off adding a seperate spark plug trigger, like some flamethrower kits have, and sticking it in the collector before the turbo.

then while you're bouncing off the spark limiter on the line, the unburt fuel ignites in the header.... spooling the turbo, but not turning the motor faster. :lala:

Then that honda doesn't just have a 50 shot to run 13.1 now does it?

Lol, oops.

Its a 95 Civic EX with a complete drivetrain from a I believe 01 Integra. He has I think just an intake (manifold, not CAI) and the 50 shot.

Just think 230 or so HP in a extremely small car, they will fly.

Sorry, still gotta call bs with just an intake manifold and a drivetrain from an integra and a 50 shot. I have friends with integras with work done to them and they are not near 13.1 in the 1/4 mile. ****, I have friends with Honda's with Type R motors and there barely touching the 13.4's. A intake manifold and a 50 shot on a stock Honda EX gets it into 13.1? He probably has more that either has hasn't told you or that you forgot to mention. Or maybe he is bsing you completly by saying he runs a 13.1 Have u seen him run this time?

And now that I think about it, the integra drivetrain will not hook up with the D Series motor. And neither will the intake manifold of the integra. So it makes no complete sense. I suggest you ask him again.

i'm almost tempted to buy anything but N.O.S. simply so no one will call it naws. "I don't have naws. What is that? I have a Nitrous Express nitrous system, though."

Who cares as long as the car is geared right so that you, woops, a good driver can keep it in the power range. How many serious, FAST cars (even with mountain motor V8's) do you really believe are in their power band before 3500? I suppose that there's no point in any of them either… (not that I'm calling most Hondas fast cars, but that's not really the point)

some of the road racing teams do something similar, minus the spark plug. If you watch them you'll see some of them shooting flames out of the tailpipes. They're setup to dump fuel during the shifts to spool the turbo faster.

Type R is fast, right?

so drop the whole drivetrain in something 500# or so lighter and what do you get?

Actually the Honda Type R motor is fast if you think 13's is fast. And the motor I am talking about is in a lightweight honda car. So...what are u trying to say with the winking and stuff?

thanks for clearing that up for me 83crossfire, about the flames coming out of the tailpipes on road racing teams, i think those wide *** ferarri type cars do it, anyways, i just always thought they ran that rich and just threw some flames cause of the gear shift, I didn't know it was setup like that for a turbo, makes sense though.
