Hey Guys!
I've been watching the turbo threads for about 6 months now and I'm thinkin about doing a TT setup on my 86 TA. Im interested in seeing some movies of some cars with turbo setups and hearing what they sound like.
Thanks!

You mind as well set your sights high. Here are some of the fastest 'street cars'.

Fastest LS1 (Trans Am):

http://stenodracing.com/thunder04/Ha...n_8.52@170.wmv

Fastest 6 speed (Viper):

http://www.garyjavo.com/videos/8.75PASS.wmv

Both twin turbo, stock type suspension, and on radial tires.

Well, I dont want to set my sights THAT high. I wanna do a more mild (550-600hp) range twin turbo small block. I'd like to keep it looking as stock as possible. Mostly I just wanna tear up the lil **** burners running around town with thier hopped up civics.
BTW: Im not trying to dis anyones rides, just tired of seeing 3 foot tall spoilers on the back of front wheel drive cars.

My TT IROC sounds bone stock at idle. It is even quieter than a stock L98 with a performance muffler. As the boost builds, you can hear some turbine whistle and the air rushing through the intercooler plumbing, and then the loud BOV whistle during shifts (sounds sort of like a whip). I also have a Q-TEC electric cut-out I can open up if I want to hear more turbine whistle, but the engine sounds kind of crappy through the cut-out. I wish I had a sound clip for you.

Hey guys!
Thanks for the info, hoping to keep this thread alive. I'm shopping for two turbos at local junkyards right now, does anyone have a list of cars/years and what turbo's are in them? Offhand I've been looking for Saab's, Mercur's, and thunderbird turbo-coupes. I have a guy to custom make my headers and have found another guy to rebuild whatever turbo's I happen to find.
I know the JY turbo's have been talked to death, but I'm still somewhat new to the forums and am still trying to dig up as much information as I can before I start tearing into this project.
Thanks in advance.

/\/3\/\/l8l3, I have NO problems with single turbo setups. My girlfriend wants me to do a single turbo on a mustang for her. I want to do a TT setup for my 3rdgen as a challenge. Her brother brought up an interesting idea, a triple turbo compound setup. 2 smaller turbo's feeding one large turbo, say from a 5.9L cummins diesel engine. Personally, I'm not sure how well the big turbo would handle it, plus, how much boost can you really use in a gas engine?

Given all that info, the best suited, and easiest to find would be from the SVO mustangs or 85-86 MT thunderbird turbocoupes.

Heres a short, crappy vid of the day i got my car out on the road. Its a 350 w/ HSR intake, running megasquirt with the megasquirt'n'edis code. Its using stock-type log manifolds (from an 80's van?) flipped and two .60/.63 SVO/turbocoupe turbos. The cold side is a temporary setup, as I have an air/air IC waiting to be installed this winter. Best time i've had from two saturdays at the track for tuning (probably < 12 runs total) is a 13.262@111.87 running 10 psi non-intercooled (no traction).

I have a high res version but its huge (60 meg) and i cant host it, or support that kind of traffic at home. PM me if you can host it or are good with video compression.
