I still have some carb tuning to do. I plan to get the EV carb hat which should clear some things up.

I saw an original hood w/o louvers at the junkyard for like $30. My orig. hood had louvers, and i did not want to cut up the orig. hood, and I did not want to buy a cowl for $$$. So, I just modified the jy hood so it has an extra wide 4' cowl. <-- kinda temporary to save $.

Yes it is budget. Last year I had a decent short block (forged pistons, custom comp cam,....etc) but it ran lean and I F'ed it up (holes in pistons). So, I said screw it, went and pulled a short block from the junkyard from a chev. truck for $100.00 and threw it in.

How hot does it get under that hood? even with all the wrap on the lines? i'm just asking since I have a TT 88 Formula, and am curious as to how hot everyone elses under hood turbo systems are.

With proper timing/jetting it stays below 190 unless I get on it a lot.

I am running 8-9 lbs of boost. The headers are the s10 v-8 conversion headers flipped upside down, the only clearence issues are the brake lines but you can just bend them a little and they clear fine.

Under hood temps = Really HOT. I need to put some type of heat shield on the turbine housing because the outside of the fender gets so hot you can burn your hand.

Ok, cool, me too, I'm running about 7psi through two t3's, and it gets mighty hot underneath the hood, even with the headers wrapped, next step is to bag the turbos, and wrap the downpipes.

do you think the s10 headers would have enough clearence for twin t3's? Also are those s10 headers for 4wd or 2wd s10's? Thanks

here's the only pics I had, I was going to take some better higher resolution ones, but it's been snowing, and raining here for the past week.

this is a junkyard to the extreme project, and it worked out quite nicely, I haven't gotten it to the track, or dyno yet, but it is definately a very large improvement. 3rd gear is just and endless pull now, along with being able to spin em from a roll now, which I could never do before.

The headers are an extremely simple design, which you can end up placing the turbos pretty much wherever you want if someone were to repeat the design.

It's 3 inch, from the collector of the header, to a 3 to 2-1/2 reducer, to flange, then turbo.

Twntrboz28, did you take it to a track/dyno yet? What kind of turbo is that? and what is it off of? How soon do you hit 8-9 lbs of boost?

I dont have any times yet, still kinda tuning it. The turbo is a master power T-70. They make them in brazil or something, and they are very popular on turbomustangs.com . I have a 3000 stall and I hit 8-9 lbs by 3400-3500 rpm. I also just added a 1st gen dsm blowoff valve, I'll add some pics soon.

The turbine a/r is .96 and the cam is JuNkYaRd SuPeR StOcK Yo! (I have no clue what cam is in it) I did however put a set of 1.6 roller rockers in which probably helps slightly.

BTW, yesterday I put in a mallory hyfire 6 digital ignition. It seems that with the new ignition it runs richer at idle, is this normal?

It has been running really good, it will burn the tires through 1st and 2nd (havent tried 3rd yet) by just rolling into it. I think it is time to take it to the dyno to see just how much boost I can put through it.

If making them yourself turbo setups can be very diffucult without the right tools and experience. I managed to get by with a flux core welder, angle grinder, drill, dremmel tool, saws-all, bench vise, a set of end wrenches, ratchet set, some vice grips, screwdrivers, and a big hammer.

As far as price, you can spend anywhere from $500 to 10,000+.
Depends on the quality of componets, how much stuff/work you can get for free/cheap, and how much time you have.

You can prettymuch get any question answered with a search either here or at turbomustangs.com
