383 rebuild done...amazing results!!!

well guys after a few weeks of headaches and a drained bank account lol! my Z is ready to roll with more punch than before. A few weeks back I wrote a thread during the build up with all the details in the power adder forum. The motor is now back in the car with the ATI 3core race IC, a D1-SC up from the P1 i had before and a snow perf. water/meth kit. The best dyno pull showed 614rwhp and 643 ft lbs of grunt! @14.5psi. I had compcams tool up a killer blower cam which helped a lot(.512/.532 @.050 and 224/238 dur @ .050 with a 116 lsa). I'm now looking into a set of polished and ported AFR 225's instead of the 210's on the motor now...with the 3core race IC and water/meth kit teamed with the 7:5:1 CR 20psi is where i want to be with zero detonation issues. With the new heads and the D1 blowing 20psi, can you say 800rwhp drive it everday monster? The only sad thing is the racing season is pretty much done out here so i'll have the torture of waiting till next year to pull some times..hopefully at least mid 10's, wish me luck!

Sounds Awsome! You still got that BTO stage 2 behind that? If so thats great cause thats what I got behind my engine. I am in the process of gathering info on a Turbo engine and I am shooting for similar power numbers. I am trying to get an idea of how long its gonna last with 600-700 rwhp.

Do you remember what thread it was that you wrote all the details about the motor build up? I would love to read about it. I am wanting to build up a fuel injected 383 stroker with a supercharger similar to the one that you have plus a 100-150 shot of nitrous just for fun every now and then. Just curious to know if you have an idea about how much the entire engine setup cost you?

79vette, that BTO tranny is quite capable! before, I thought i'd have to go to the stage 3 or something else period. I only have a 2600 stall in it with a 24k b&m supercooler and when it gets up to operating temps it sits dead @175deg. If you got one in your vette you won't be disappointed because i think bowtieoverdrives rate among the top builders of GM od trannies.

Thats good hear!, Yea I have thrown all I got at that trans with my 310 rwhp 355 and its still asking for more. My temp never gets much above 165 with my coolers in. I was thinking along the lines of a forged rotating assembly 383 with a single large turbo and use my Trickflow heads. About 12 psi of intercooled boost should do the trick. Shift point @ 6500-6700 rpms.

I see you got a plan there 79vette! I can tell you that the 383 is one of the most balanced small block configuration out there...if built right it can make sick power in N/A form let alone forced induction. The 350 is still the most popular small block but you can't compete with cubic inches. Take your time and build it right and you'll be rewarded.

leeperryracing, you're powertrain sounds slick. VERY similiar to what I'm almost done with:
P1SC w/ 14# pulley
4 bolt balanced 383
Eagle 4340 stroker crank
-16cc pistons
Hbeam rods
Dart Iron Eagle 215's (72cc combustion chambers)
Harland Sharp 1.5 RR's
Custom ground Comp Cam (int lift:.520 / exh lift:.540
duration @ .050 int 236 exh 248 LSA 113
Tremek tk600
SPEC stage 3+ clutch
Alum flywheel
TPIS Bigmouth Intake
SLP siamesed runners
Holley 58mm TB
(looking at Racetronix 60# injectors)
Running tunercat and $58 code

Think on a good tune I'll post numbers close to yours?

Is this a 700r4?

How much dragstrip use does it see? Sticky tires? My 700 is doing it’s best to really **** me off and I’m seriously considering building up the 200-4r that I have sitting at the house or picking up a 400, even though I don’t want to loose OD.
