NOS Question

I was thinkin of puttin Nos on my car. Would like to know if a 100 shoot equals a 100HP? If so whats the best kit for me to get? My car is built mild. 355 vortec heads, cam 487/490 lift 274/286adv dur. been carbed , and air gap intake. built trany and 342 posi rear.

Best 1/8 8.5 @84mph and the 1/4 13.5 @ 106mph
Any suggestions would be great.

Port foggers are best but will cost you $1000+

If you can find an old NOS cheater plate system for $100 or so and buy a 10 or 15 lb bottle to go with it... not a bad deal.

A nos brand super powershot kit would be a good starter system. They also have the sniper system which is a little cheaper. I am not familar with other brands.

Your best bet would be to get a whole kit instead of trying to piece it together.

www.racingjunk.com i bought both my nitrous kits from there for pretty good deals (sportsman fogger for the z) for 500 and NX efi wet kit with window switch, iceman solenoids, heater and purge for 370 bucks!!! if u go and look i seen a powershot plate system with everything and a remote bottle opener for 200 bucks, people there are just looking to get rid of stuff and not make a whole lot of money like those ebayers, just keep your eye out and you'll get something.. and yeah the NOS sniper kit is good for a first timer

Most kits are rated at flywheel HP but I believe NX rates theirs at rear wheel? I'm real happy with my HX Hitman kit so far ...although I would like to switch to one of their "twin gemini" plates once I get serious.

Whats your compression at? What gears/stall do you have? I think you car should be atleast a second faster than its running now (look at mine... same heads/cam). The 11.88 I ran on a 100 shot could of been a lot better. I had the fuel pressure safety switch up too high and it was pulsating the solenoids the entire run... Not to mention the bottle pressure was low and the timing was retarded about 3* too much. I recently upped to the 150 hit and got more risky in the timing/fuel pressure/bottle pressure department and boy-o-boy this things asininely fast playing around on backwoods roads... its downright scary

My compression should be 10-2-1. The gear that Im runnin is a 342 with a posi and the stall is 2200 in a 350 turbo. The only problem that I've had has been my tires are bald and I spin alot. Im buyin some drag radials after Christmas. Im hopen after puttin NOS on it I will hit the low 12's r 11's. Does a 100 shot equal a 100 hp? The kit I like the best has been the sniper so far.

actually you arent an idiot. My car is carbed I've had this name on here since like 2001 (when my car was stock and TPI). I'm running an RPM intake and 750 Speed Demon.

Generally 100 shot would equal 100HP - on a typical stock motor. After all the variables are taken into consideration you could gain waaay more than 100HP or waaay less than 100HP off a "100 shot"
