heavily blown sbc cam specs.....
i just want some fresh eyes to look at this lol.....need some new ideas....
this is what i got when i was talking to comp the other day about some specs for my new project.....
if you're gonna start the "comp cams is stupid" BS get out now or i'll thrash you.....
i want insight from people who actually know what they're doing and have done this before.
its a 383 sbc, with afr 210cc CNC heads....carb'd......going to see between 20 and 30psi of boost, intercooled from a large centrifugal.
the cam specs werefor a split pattern (int/exh)
.615/.630 lift 244/254 deg duration at .050 on a 114 deg LSA

You're right on the money as far as the cam specs go. Mine is basically a one step larger custom grind CC but it's also on a 406 so you should be fine.
Are the heads heavily ported or just mild CNC'd? 20-30lbs is alot of boost. I missed what the PA is going to be....

they're fully cnc ported afr's....with an angle cut......
the blower right now is on the drawing board as the f1r at maximum output on race fuel....intercooled of course.....possibly an f2
I have never built a combo like that. I know exactly one person who has. AFR 210s just like yours but they remachined them on their own to work with a raised-port single plane intake (said they picked up 20 CFM in the process- building up the floor, raising the port roof). Also, they were running EFI, not a blow-through carb. Boost in the 20s via a HUGE centrifugal blower (with water-to-air intercooler). And 350ci, not 383. Enough that the car (mid-80s Olds 442 that looked stock except for the cage) went 9.99999999 and was street driven. Sick, mind-bending HP. 4 digit horsepower.
Their cam was not far different from what you have spec'ed out. The LSA was a little tighter but otherwise similar, if memory serves. Obviously, it goes without saying we're talking about a solid lifter roller cam setup.
This guy clearly knew what he was doing with sick street machinery, such as you seek. He's a regular on Maliburacing.com. I won't give it away who it is as I'm not sure he'd appreciate all the attention, but I could plug you into him if you like (shoot me an email). His shop is a real wonder-of-the-world disguised as your average suburban garage. Kind of place you would walk right past a 10 second car and never even know it.
He's one of those people who looks at you kinda weird if you talk about your "fast" car that lays 500 to the rear wheels, because his wife's daily driver could smoke you. A real racer who occasionally slows down and drives a 9 second car around on the street. You know- he's whacked, but in a good kinda way.

Of course it all depends how fast you want to go. What is your ET goal?

i want to approach 1000 fly wheel HP on race gas

1000 FWHP was my goal when I was putting my current combo together. Let's just say it that it's well over that and only spinning the blower at 62K. I run a mix of pump and race fuel but you can get away with all pump if you take a little timing out of it.
You will be very happy with the F1R if you are only looking to make 1000 FWHP.

Forgive me.... I undersold my buddy. He informs me his Olds is actually currently running low 9s and he's building a new combo to try to run in the 8s. Both current and future combo are race gas only motors when the phaser is set to "kill." Dialed back on the boost and timing it will run on pump gas but it's really not built for that. Aside from the race gas issue, it's still street-drivable (as will be the future combo). If you didn't notice the cage inside you'd never know it was anything more than a clean Olds 442 with nice wheels- inside and out. I walked right past it the first time and assumed it maybe ran 11s. Wrong. It just looks SO stock.
In fact, the HD 3-core radiator currently in my Malibu is the stock/original radiator that came out of my friend's afore-mentioned 442. He was still running it until recently when he decided to "get serious" and shoot for the 8s, then he put the car on a diet.

cool man......thats where im headed to try and stay with the guys that run in quick street up here lol.....most of them are mid 8 sec rides.....very cool, but they're all race-only cars.....im still gonna put around on the street
If you want an almost perfect cam you need to call denny wycoff at motor machine. He and david vizard had teamed up together a while back and now denny runs the cam doctor. If you call be ready to order, or have your credit card ready. if you just want specs on a cam they will cost you, if you buy the cam from them they wave the fee for the cam design..... As for prices on a cam, they are priced like any other company out there...
I picked up a good bit of power when I got one of their cams last year....
