NOS on a L69

I have a 84 HO Trans Am with the L69. The car has 98,000 miles. i have accel cap rotor and coil and have put a double roller timing chain in. I am wondering if the motor will be able to withstand Nitrous. If so what is the max i should run. Thanks.

I think most people would advise you not to go much above a hundred shot. I have an L69 as well and mine runs almost identical times to yours. Mine has 130,000 on it. I put a NOS kit on mine I used a 37 nitrous jet and a 35 fuel jet. It ran 14.027@101.2

What all do you have to upgrade for to add nitrous? Your setup uses a plate under the carbb right? how does that work with the hood clearence? thanks again

You don't have to do anything out of the ordinary to put nitrous on your car. Just make sure you have enough fuel pressure to maintain about 6psi and make sure your spark is good. I managed to fit the NOS plate and an Edelbrock RPM manifold with a drop base air-cleaner under my hood. I have the same car as you (an '84) the power bulge hood gives you a bit more clearance.

From what I've seen, a 100 would be good for the streets, and if you want the most you can absolutely safely put on an engine, then I'd say a 150 shot.

hey Cosmik Debris:

how big of a drop base air cleaner do you have and where did you get it?

i have a RPM intake that im gonna have to put a q-jet adapter on so it will work and i will most likely need a drop base air cleaner.....thanks
