Intercooler in a bottle, more power vs. safer?

Packaging for an intercooler with my twin turbo project is extreamly difficult at best..impossible at worst. I am considering the possibility of adding a 50-75 shot of NOS..mostly to cool things off. I do not know if NOS in small shots (wet plate system) could actualy help fight detonation on a boosted application due to the hot intake charge, or be just as bad.

What do you guys think?

I think its a great idea. You can make a monster front mount IC fit, but you need to make quite a few modifications to make it fit. If you're worried about the extra power from the 02, you can always spray it on the outside of the IC. For ease of packaging consider running a air:water IC system with ice water if you're just planning on drag racing. You can mount the water cooler radiator just about anywhere with a tiny pancake fan sucking air through it.

Andris, with big front IC and a little tweak here and there

I don't think I can fit a monster front IC. I relocated my radiator a few inches forward to clear the turbos, and I have the fan in the front blowing back. There might be room, but it would take a complete redesign of my setup. I may be able to mount 2 smaller ones.. on either side of the fan, but that would require a custom bumper like yours as well.

Either way...nos would be easier...if advisable.

Also..I'm not sure I've ever actually seen a water to air IC setup..so I'm not sure if I could fit one or not...

A milder approach (safer? saner?) would be a water injection system. The water spray would add a significant cooling effect without the additional fuel which the Nitrous would blast in there. You could trigger it off of a throttle position sensor.

You may even see if Guido still has his old tupperware container laying around from his water injection days! Seriously high tech!

lol I already have plans drawn up on a napkin somewhere for a water injection system I'm planning on using that wether I go with an intercooler or not.

But the more I think about it the more I think I might be able to do 2 small intercoolers...just put them before the turbos Y together. I could probably get 2 small stockers from something at a yard...I'd just need all the outlets and inlet pointing up to route it...

hey as far as your nitrous idea, l think its a good idea and like askulte said you might not have to actually spray it into the intake, l've seen guys cool their motors down using nitrous after and before runs, if you can do that l'm not sure, l just thought ld mention it, just a thought.

Hey you arent supposed to mention those embarassing days Dale!

Jester, if you could pick up a couple of cores from a turbocharged talon, eclipse, lasr or something like that and put a couple of them together, you could come up with some kind of custom end tanks to fit your turbos.

http://www.sn95.com/projects/ttarticle/ttart.htm

check that link. It gives a little "how to" on building what I just described.
