turbos are very complicated on v8s. a good old fashoned roots blower would be good for your TBI. they start at $1300 brand new.

One simple answer! TURBO's.

I had both a turbo 4 cylinder car and a 10psi paxton powered 350.
Lets just say the turbo car would walk over the supercharged 350. The main reason is the turbo power level is adjustable. If you want to fun 30 psi all you have to do is turn a ****. The paxton I was pushing it really hard just to run 10psi anymore and it would blow it up!
ALso turbos last longer then superchargers.
Turbos are cheaper to rebuild.

Minus is there is no good kits out there for our cars!
Superchargers kits are readly avalable!

If your inteasted try reading some books on turbochargeing to get an idea of what is involved in turbocharging you car!

Get these books and make the decision for yourself...

"Turbochargers" by Hugh MacInnes
"Maximum Boost" by Corky Bell
"Street Supercharging" by Pat Ganahl
"Automotive Supercharging And Turbocharging Manual" by John D. Humphries

I've read ALL FOUR. Ive dealt with AND worked on vehicles equipped with Roots blowers, turbochargers, AND centrifugal superchargers. I'm a big fan of forced induction, and from what I can see (as you will see if you read these four books) turbos are the way to go! Even if it is expensive to get one set up properly, the power that can be made is well worth it!

Just my $0.02...

After having Turbo's and Blower's I would rather own a turbo system. The supercharger's are kits which installs without a HUGE amount or no fabrication. Turbo's are DIY type of things, so be ready to do all that it takes. Turbo's offer more HP at lower RPM levels and overall, while centrifugal blower's are hi rpm power adders. Turbocharger's are far tougher and last longer than centrifugals.

Turbo myth is one size allows for optimum boost at 10 and 20 PSI, not true. The turbo size has to be matched to the engine and the desired power curve.

I agree you should read up on the subject so you can make an INFORMED decision.

a turbo is a centrifugal superchager driven by exhaust gas. it doesn't put any exhaust back into the engine.

If you want to keep it simple go supercharger.2 motors built acordingly with either power adders, the turbo will have at most a 40-50hp advantage.Backpressure robs some but not alot of hp.If you want to drive your car anytime soon go supercharger.Drive either one if you can. A Supercharger is not a slouch at all,as some seem to make it when this comparison comes up.Take a ride in a 500hp supercharged car and tell me its doesnt do anything for you.But last but not least as with any combo, alot of matinence is expected,I hope anyone is not thinking, well put a turbo on my thirdgen, weekend project,30psi and go on my merry way.Far from the truth. The amount of cars, well to be more specific to your application, third gens running turbos to thirdgens running superchargers, tha ratio is at least 500 to 1.I have seen, and not in person only 3 turboed thirdgens.Best recommendation is a B&M 144 for your car now.

Thanks for the info.. Im still going to read up and for some reason i would like to have my car turbo charged instead of supercharged. Is that b&m 144 a Turbocharger or supercharger. And where can I take a look at it..??

Thanks

the b&m 144 is a super charger it is a roots blower... you can find it in summit.. i think i might put that on my car i was looking at the ati procharger and the vortech supercharger which is belt driven as well but i think i might stick with a roots blower.. and nos maybe... you see more turbos on the imports usually until you get into the drag scene.. for some reason the 8's have more super charges available then turbos.. i am conteplating the same thing as you 92camarotbi same engine and all.. i plan on buying a supercharger in 6 to 9 months researching in the mean time...
