Ran the GTA for the first time,....
I ran the GTA w/ the Vortech for the first time pretty hard. Altough I didn't "floor it, I probably had 3/4 throttle. I think my tranny is slipping pretty bad. It felt like I had one foot on the clutch half way down. so I guess this thing isn't gonna run strong untill I get a new tranny. Also, It was so funny. Now that I'm getting more air, I guess I have to get it out. When I jumped on it, I blew the cat clean off the y-pipe. and the cat is highflow along w/ the rest of the exhaust. I guess I'm making a lot of flywheel hp, but getting no more to the ground then I did w/out the sc. On top of it all, I only hit like 5lbs boost at 3/4 throttle.

Well, tonight I finished the Walbro 340 and the FMU. I took it out fot a run. I ran my buddies 96 12.9 sec SS camaro. He used to beat me by a couple of lengths. I got him pretty good, was pulling on him well, w/ all 10lbs. boost. He Said his car was running better than ever, and I still got him by atleast a few lenghts. Don't forget, that's w/ the 48mm tb, no PROM, all the timng pulled out, restictive exhaust and a tranny that's slipping really bad ( i could really feel it slip). any way, I guess that translates to a mid 12 if I hook up. AND when I put timing back into it, put on the 58mm tb, uncap the exhaust, fix the tranny and whatnot, I can't see how i won't get into the high 11's or low 12's atleast. So all in all I'm pretty happy!

Honestly, it was not thatbad, becausei took my sweet *** time. Te biggest problem was getting the oil pan welded to acceptthe oil return, but you don't have to weld it if you don't want. I put in a intank fuel pump, thatwas aPITA too, butthey give you an inline. The sepentine conversion is SIMPLE, if you have all the parts. It takes time to find odd bolts and stuff if not, and you need a different alt, p/s, waterpump, crank pulley etc. I got most of the stuff for free, or for cheap. I had to relocate a few wires, from one side of the motor to the other, but that was just time consuming. Overall, if you are mechanical, you can do it. If you don't work on cars at all, i wouldn't try it. I had to make a lot of custom stuff fit on top of it all. But I thin that if you ffind a used kit for $2000, like i did, you will spend another $500 on extras. For me, it might have been a little more, because I opted for a new aluminum water pump and some other new stuff. Also, I had a shop dothe fuel pump for $275, but tatwas the intank. i didn't want to do it. I would think that if you bought a new kit, you should pay about $3000, and $500 in extras, at the most. So, about $3500 or $2,500 for a used kit. If you have any other specific quetions, post here or email me. good luck. it's defeinatly worth. it. But, don't forget, you could blow your tranny, rear, or need exhaust upgrades and whatnot, so you could be spendind more eventually. latr

Justin,
Sounds like a great set-up. I think 11's are a definite with some tuning. Is it the V-2 "super quiet" Vortech S-trim. How quiet is it really. I would like to up grade to a V-2 S-trim from my V-1 S-trim because I can't stand the noise. How is the durability on these units. I heard the "Super Quiet" units are breaking, but I think those was the systems for the LS1.

Actually, I don't think it is the super quiet, but then again, it's not all that loud. I'll have to get back to you on that one. But it seems to be very durable so far. I am very impressed w/ the quality. BTW, i like the sound it makes.
