boost+ head gaskets
heh i managed to blow out a or both head gaskets after just over 2k miles.falure ocured on my 4th 19psi run.if i switch to copper gaskets do i need to get the heads/block o-ringed. or would i be fine just droping a set on the motor as it is.or should i just get a good replacement stock head gasket set and see what happens again.
though im still not sure if i hurt anything else yet.i wont know till i get the motor apart.but im pretty sure its just a head gasket since its blowing antifreeze out the ex

Personally I'd get a set of felpro stock replacment gaskets with arp head bolts and try again paying closer attention to your tune. With a good tune most headgaskets will live, last season I put 220 passes on my car running between 19-26psi of boost without a failure. Took the heads off over the winter to replace worn guides and the gaskets looked like new.
If you want a stronger gasket than that try an multi layer steel gasket(like cometic).

I hope I didnt offend you but I've seen alot of good tunes burn headgaskets, pistons, ect.
Felpro 512SD Perma Torque Severe Duty are similar to what I use(only mine dont carry the severe duty tag)and with arp bolts should be just fine.

I've never personally used MLS gaskets but have heard they work from other people, I personally think the perma torque type gaskets will live in most applications. Though the factory has been using MLS gaskets lately with good results.

i'd look into cometics. i know guys with em on every type of forced induction possible and they hold up great. a little expensive but definately worth it.

I ran them with no problems on about 14-15 psi. Trending Topics

The headgaskets are a fuse . I would rather blow a headgasket that burn piston and mess up the internals. RJC and cometic make really good headgaskets ....... the problem is im sure you will need a rebuild after you blow their gaskets

You need o-rings for copper headgaskets. Either the block or heads. I have my block 0-ringed, and i havent had one problem with my car. 3 yrs of running. And i've had a few misshaps where my wastegate vacuum hose blew off and the engine saw upwards of 30lbs of boost before i noticed. Your running a 3.1? Your problem may never be able to get fixxed. It might be the design of the heads or head bolt pattern. I dont think the 3.1 is really designed to handle tons of cylinder pressure.
