Anyone using a GT66 or GT45 Ebay turbo?

Yeah, I know they have been said to be junk, will catch fire, explode, destroy engines, etc. If you have any direct experience with either the GT66 or GT45 Ebay turbo, please post. Or if you have any links about real world thread showing how well the work or how bad they work, please post.

I would like to hear anything about the "super T70", "GT66", and "GT45".

Thanks,
Junk

I have ran a few and i have a few buddies that do as well...
I have had NO problems at all, the Talon (T60-1) boosted nearly 22psi. the fiero turbo (GT28RS) i only had on for a few weeks and went a different direction, but it was fine as well. I just recently bought a pair of T-70 "big shaft" turbos from them as well for my 383, they even gave me like $50 off.
STAY AWAY FROM SSAUTOCHROME!! their compressor housings are two pieces and are GLUED together!! they do blow apart at higher boost levels!
However AutoPowerEnterprise is a great dealer! thats who makes my turbos and i have a few buddies running them as well, from a DSM, camaro, WRX, and one on a jetta. NONE of them have had ANY problems whatsoever that i am aware of. Im sure i would be the first to know as i buy them off ebay and resell localy for a little extra coin.

heres a linkto the A.P.E GT66s

Thank you for posting this. What I gather from this is you and people you know are running the A.P.E GT66 and have not had any problems, correct? I am really looking for info on the Ebay GT66 and GT45. Have you seen any problems with the T-70 "big shaft"?

The compressor housing thing doesn't really bother me because I can TIG the housing before it comes apart. The thing that worried me was oiling problems. None of you have seen oiling problems?

Thanks,
Junk

EDIT: All of the units come from various manufacturers in China. Tech. progresses over there so it may be that some are glued housings and some are not. It may be that some started out as glued and now are one piece. I do not know if they are glued or one-piece. I am simply looking for the facts on the present day turbos. Every bit of info helps.

Good info, but I don't see where any of those links talk about either a GT66 or GT45.

Anyone have any reliability info or specs on the GT66 or GT45?

you could always
I want to know what the comp. wheel inducer diameter is (it just says 66mm in the AD with no actual measurement of what that is).
I want to know what the comp. wheel exducer diameter is.
I want to know what the comp. housing A/R is.
I want to know what the exhaust wheel inducer & exducer diameters are.
I want to know the bolt hole measurements are on the exhaust inlet
I want to know what the real exhaust outlet diameter is (I don't believe the AD with 2.5" is correct)
I want to know what the internals look like.

You simply posting a link to an AD that is highly suspect doesn't help anyone. The only links are the basic "classic" Ebay turbos are junk pictures that I have seen a dozen times. You have not proven in any way that the GT66 or GT45 is reliable. Your post of saying it is "reliable" doesn't really mean anything without any data backing it up. In fact, if you really believe that comp. map that Autopowerenterprises stole from Innovative Turbos then you really need to search. Please tell what a "GTS wheel - insane top end power" means. Please tell me you don't believe all of the stuff. It is marketing mumbo-jumbo and means nothing in the real world.

Why do I get the feeling that you have never really taken one apart to measure it and simply just slapped it on and crossed your fingers. I guess you haven't caught on that all the cheap Ebay turbos come from a few plants in China. SSAC/XSPOWER is no different.

You probably have some decent info to post about the GT66 but aren't really backing it up with measurements or reliability/miles figures. A search here only brings up post that I ask about the GT66 and GT45. At TM, everyone just says they are junk with no real data. Basically, the same as you posted....they are good without any real data. Google just brings up Ebay ADs and listing for other China turbos that aren't GT66 or GT45. If you have any real links for the GT66 or GT45 (non- Ebay ADs), please post them.

this is the internet wiith billions of websites, you can search somewhere other than here... try google maybe ask.com or one of the other 1000000 search engines...

You could try to contact them and see i fby chance they could tell you what you want to know. dont just expect everyone to throw everything you need to know right into your lao when you havent really done any "leg work" yourself. As far as reliability goes again, personaly the turbo on my talon had over 20K miles on it with no problems. My bud.dies have been running them for almost a year now, once again with no problems

Davs12secv6: you run a SSAC and dont have any problems, congratulations. I didnt mean to "offend" anyone buy pointing out that their stuff is junk. Call A.P.E, they are based in Texas and there stuff is manufactured in the US

OK, I get it now. You are a joker that doesn't really know anything about turbo systems. Thank you for confirming this. Once again, you posted no info because you really don't know anything about them. Instead of posting facts.....you just say search and "APE is good". This thread was about getting info together about the GT66 and GT45. All you did is clog it up with your own opinions. The only good thing out of it is that you kept bumping it to the top.

Umm, APE says specifically in their Ebay AD......no phone staff......don't call us. You call a year of run time reliable? You are kidding right?

You really think the APE turbo is made in the USA? Shame on you for being so naive.

yeah, your right, i know nothing about turbo setups, thats about 80% of the 15 cars i have owned where turbo. Probably also how i got my old '95 dodge neon to run mid low 11s without breaking anything and it only cost me about $1000. I said i dont have an particular facts about those exact turbos, get off you lazy *** and do some searchin of your own. Once again the reliability factor, i am telling you what i know, yeah they've only been on the cars around a year, get back in touch in 3 more years and ill tell you how they're doing.
****in bench racer... and good luck with you "build"

my opinnions?!?!?! read your own post you ****ing clown shoes....

It isn't that you know nothing about turbo setups. You know just enough to be dangerous it appears. Getting a neon to do 11s has nothing to do with anything. Getting something to go fast is all about removing weight and adding horsepower. Honestly, you are the first person I have ever seen brag about a Dodge Neon. If you can stand driving a car like that then by all means have at it.

Yeah, post in about 3 years when you have some info. I am not building anything. Just trying to gather info from "experts" like you before I spend the money on a China GT66 or GT45. Thanks for finally admitting that you have no facts about the turbos I started a thread about.......but somehow seemed to clog this thread with myths about totally unrelated China turbos. Please find a new thread to post your opinions and leave this one open to the people that actually want to help.

im done in this thread, would just like to point out that you are obviously completely ****ing retarded. "myths" will photos and documentation proving them to be FACT! (not really a myth huh dipshit?) Yeah i will brag about the neon because it is a pretty damn big accomplishment if you knew anyhting about cars at all. i added weight to the neon, if i had stripped it i could have easily broken 10's.. the neon has full interior, full body kit, 17" rims and a sound system, i guarantee it will beat the **** out of you car! Hell ill even let you rip out you entire interior and ill have a buddy ride in the neon with me.

doubt people are going to help when they see what an *** you are! and "experts" will tell you not to be cheap and buy a brand name turbo. Anyways good luck with your "info gathering" and i hope you find what you are looking for.

have a nice day

Not wanting to have any confrontation, although I will put my . I happened to buy a Chinese turbo and will have to say there are only a couple of manufaturers of the e-bay (generic) turbo's and when you search, you'll see thay ALL are made in China. Dave, didn't you put a bunch of miles on yours without a problem?
You could try to contact them and see iby chance they could tell you what you want to know. dont just expect everyone to throw everything you need to know right into your lao when you havent really done any "leg work" yourself.
I know for a fact that junkcltr has done plenty of leg work, and he even helped me track down the real map for the turbo I bought from e-bay (intercoolers-only store). Even though it was "advertised" as a 57 trim, he told me how to caculate it by measuring the comp wheel! Turns out it is a 46 trim.
Here's the map in the e-bay ad (actually a copy of the Garrett map):

Here's the REAL map for my turbo:

And NO my turbo is not "glued" together, but the compressor is a solid piece of cast aluminum.
.
Junk, I wish I could give you more info, but have you tried a "consumer review" type site? I found lots of stuff on there, like my 42" plasma that looks better than yours sorry, had to do it.
Seriously, lots of people said it was crap and others said it was great for the price. Since I got mine for $1080 a year ago,

I'm happy (do you like the the quick 2hr woodworking I did?). I'll see if I have the links still and get back...

u didnt offend me,but u sit there and say dont buy ssac junk but this guys stuff is ok,when infact the gt28r and t70 turbos they sell are ssac/xspower turbos, they are identical, know what ur talking about before u go posting offf about something being junk.and ive only ever heard of one case of the compressor housing comming apart and that was from like what 2 years ago, everyone that says oh the covers come apart link to the same picture, but yet they all act like it happened to them,

Re: Anyone using a GT66 or GT45 Ebay turbo?

Ok so I am looking at geting a ebay turbo kit for my 305 and was just wondering for those of you that have had problems with the ebay turbos about how long did the turbo run for before you had the problems. ? I am planing to run about 8 to 10 psi with the turbo untill I can save up some more money and get a nice brand name turbo but I'm just wondering about how long I have to get the new turbo befor I risk the chance of the ebay turbo going

Re: Anyone using a GT66 or GT45 Ebay turbo?

Link to the "kit"? They generally don't come with everything you need and can be peiced together from ebay parts for less than the "kit".

Since this post I have done about 4 or 5 turbo kits for customers using ebay parts and no issues to date except they don't produce the power their brand-name counterpart will.

If you don't mind spending a little more cash, check out the Holset hx40 or hx55, they are cheap and reliable. The hx35's are more abundant but will cap at about 450-ish hp.

I didn't see any info there about parts for doing a rebuild. Does the Garrett stuff fit or does it have to be a MasterPower GT45 kit?
