Well the turbo is finally going in
Can;t freaking wait. I am also trying to make it smog legal too... by adding the smogg bung setup like an LT1
I am going to run a 4 lb spring at first to get the bugs worked out ...then maybe stepup to a 6 lb spring. I currently have a set of cast iron 882's ( 76 cc) getting hogged out and 2.02/1.6 valves put in .
Running an FMU with a 10:1 ratio and stock 22lb injectors I had psyonically cleaned and flowmatched. Stock T-5 W/C with stock clutch and 3.73 LSD out back.
Suspension stuff is just some simple Hotchkis LCA's and PH bar. KYB shocks and struts all round. Poly motor and tranny mount.
Wish me luck ... I will post in this thread to let you all know how it went.
CAN'T WAIT TO BE RUNNING BOOST BABY !!!!!!

Aw man, I woulda just tried to hog out the chambers on the L98 heads... That's an L98 block right? Using TPI of some variety? (the edelbrock base and runners as in sig?)
Hope it works for ya! Intercooler to be used?

Re: Well the turbo is finally going in
I figured because I have flat tops ( 9.7:1 ) I needed all the help i could get ( with a big cc)
Yeah I am useing the edlebrock Hi flwo TPI ( it's ported and siamesed in 4 " deep . The Plenum has also been hogged out to match the runners. An intercooler is in the mix ....but I can't get one just yet .
For pics of the kit ( not on the engine ) I would check my cardomain site .... not sure If I should litter the forum with them as there are already lots of pics up of the BBS kit . But I will post up installed pics later this week if all goes well.
As far as the T-5 goes..... I know it's gonna pop one day . But I am keepign the stock clutch in it ...just to help it last a little. Street tires will aslo be staying on untill I can get a rearend.

Re: Well the turbo is finally going in
Well some comments about the install thus far.
The turbo header and wastegate seem to fit with the smogg pump in . Also those with aftermarekt starters like my powermaster unit , will have to reclock them in order to clear #8 primary.
A/C is out of the car. But I recomend going straight to a non A/C box as teh downtube looks like it would be very tight .

Here is a pic of the turbo header installed. I am wooried about my choice of smogg though ...it's a bit of a gamble . I am going to try it like the LT1 manifolds and just run one big bung for the smogg stuff ....coming off of # 8 on both sides ( hope they still say it " look's " legal ...I know it will pass a sniffer) .
Gaskets i am going copper with RTV .... as the guy doing the intall for me has a 16:1 500 shot of gas Easy street mustang ...and it holds for him ...so I figure it should hold for me . My 882's are still being worked on for now ...but I will be going cometic for them .... Unfortunately I have to run an FMU for the time being . 10:1 is my ratio . I am sure I will be safe running that at my low boost levels ( starting off with 4lb wastegate spring)
