Re: my car is a terd...
im trying to stay away from nitrous only because then you basicaly have to rebuild the engine just so it can handle it and in the long run its not worth it on the engine i have. i was thinking exhuast and a cam but i dont know what kind of cam to get.
----------
i was also thinking of boring it to .040 or .060 or maby storke it.

Re: my car is a terd...
I would not spend the time and money to have it bored and to stroke it. If you want to do a 305 build up First off get headers, exhaust and open up the intake side, bigger intake, performer, RPM, Airgap, and open filter. a bigger carb will help too just don't got to big. 600 or 650 would be good. But a good set of headers and exhaust will get you what you want.
if you want cams do a bit bigger then stock, like this one - CCA-12-211-2 or if its a roller CCA-12-412-8
Do a bigger stall and taller gears, 3.73's 4.10's will really wake it up.
Hope that helps

You DONT have to rebuild an engine to use nitrous. Many people, including myself, have sprayed nitrous on stock motors for a long time. Also if its not worth it with the engine you have, why would you bore and stroke it? Thats rebuilding it too and you do just as much work. My advice is to just get some headers and a decent exhaust on there, and an intake like an RPM airgap or performer RPM. And do some searching around on the board, you'll find this same question is asked and answered a MILLION times.

Stress that you are scared about from the N20 will be just as high with a turbo or S/C. So if you are affraid of N20 stress, then you inherintly are affraid of all power adder stress. Just get and a set of pipes, a cam and N20, you will be faster than you wanted to be and sounds mean.

Re: my car is a terd...
WOW. those are all questions that can be answered by using the search button. But I will leave you with the nutshell explanation...
N20 works just like a tubo, it adds more air so that you can add more fuel, so that you can make more power. thats it, simple. The nitrogen doesn't get used at all, it just carries the oxygen into the chambers safely. O2 is way too dangerous to carry around pure. Then the explotion happens and the oxygen is used and the nitrogen leaves with the exhaust.
it is literally liquid supercharging.
Yes it need to be refilled.
It runs out based on how much you use it. how big a shot you run and so on. A small shot used every now and then, a 10lb bottle filled will last a long while.
It cost about $5.50 a Lbs. So a 10Lbs. bottle, cost around $60 to fill. (ballpark)
These really are questions you shouldn't be posting about, this info is out there. GO FIND IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: my car is a terd...
Questions are fine, in fact great, I love answering and helping. But be more precise about what you want to know. Broad things like you asked before just leave you with little help. Buy a performance camaro book. I have 3, read them all 2 times at least. Now I never need to ask simple questions, only specifics about my car. Things move along WAY faster that way.

Draglover, do you need to keep smog laws in mind with your car or not? If you don`t need to smog, building power is easier.

Pretty sure he is selling the turbo for that price and thats it. A turbo kit for $350, that would be friggin' GREAT! Everyone would have one!

Re: my car is a terd...
There are several sites on the net that have good intro articles on turbos and you can learn from doing searches here,it's not something someone can explain in a few minutes. If you'd really like to "turbo" your engine, you will need to have a good working knowledge to make the right choices.

In short I think the best place for you is Ask.com just litteraly ask the question like "How does a turbo work" or Nos or supercharger ect and alot of very easy to read webpage will follow. just my advice on where to start more you understand the easier it is to choose and install

Also try downloading the instruction manual for the TPI nitrous kit from Holley's NOS web site. That taught me quite a bit about nitrous right there.

Re: my car is a terd...
If your wanting forced induction, I'd just do a Weiand 142 roots blower. A lot easier setup than a turbo, and isn't really that expensive these days...
