Safe Boost Range.? IE:LO3

what kind of PSI can i safely put through a LO3 305. with 9.5:1 pistons in it.
the engine is a fresh GM crate, and its for my friends RS.
he has his mind set on turbo's.
i told him i would ask on here for him
yes, it will be intercooled, and yes its going to be twin turbo's with an electronic boost controller.

any help would be awesome
thanks y'all

It's all on the tuning. If you can safely tune it, I would say 10psi.

yes, brian over at TBIchips.com told me that he can write a program and burn the chip so the knock, will be deleted, 02's will be converted to a wide band and the MAP will be different.

You could look into getting the EBL...

That wont do it. stock ECU cannot see boost. you need an ECU that can deal with boost and a 2 bar MAP sensor. Megasquirt or EBL.

Re: Safe Boost Range.? IE:LO3

listen, im running a twin turbo setup on a crate 350 with 8.5-1 compression.. im running a tpi manifold but im also using mass air flow translator pro. go to maftpro.com and just read about their setup. it is a great program and it is way easier to use than megasquirt. your lookin at about 500 smackaroos! with their setup you can also buy their 3 bar map sensor, boost control solenoid... so on and so fourth... trust me its worth looking into.

Re: Safe Boost Range.? IE:LO3

Cheaper way would be to use an FMU if the injectors will handle the extra pressure.

I ran 15 lbs on my L03 for about 4 months. Drove it three times a week on the autobahn doing around 110 mph. So it saw a constant 8 psi for about 12 minutes. I put a carb on it though. Tuned it with LM-1. MSD BTM 6al.

I'm not sure how the FMU will work with the TBI but, I know after years of using a 2-bar map setup I won't go back to that again. The resolution is horrible.

Re: Safe Boost Range.? IE:LO3

There are FMUs with different pressure ratios. They come with the vortech systems, but those are only meant for like 6 lbs of boost. Much more than that and I'm sure its not going to be very accurate as its linear.

I've never played with one, I dont know how close it gets your fuel ratio to being correct. If you used an adjustable regulator, I would imagine that you could get it close.

Of course assuming you run under 10 lbs.
