Anyone using a ebay type wastegate with any luck?

need a economical 42 to 45mm wastegate and dont have 200+ bucks to get a good one. I have heard of people using them and being ok but which one . there are tons of these and need to know if one particular one is better than others. Trying to polish a turd here I guess. I will replace it after I get a new job but for now have to get this running so I can sell the other one I drive now. Or if someone has a good used one for a decent price. Help please.....

^ ssautochrome has them for cheap, but remember, you always get what you pay for, Click Here. Dave would be your best bet to ask regarding ebay pieces, hopefully he'll chime in....

if people go the cheap route is this the best? I have no intention of keeping it on for a long time just until I can afford a good one.

I've been using a 44mm eBay w/g from ssautochrome for 2yrs w/o any issues. Keeps boost at 10psi consistently & never had boost creep or any spikes.

Re: Anyone using a ebay type wastegate with any luck?

Yeah, my car is a DD & I put 1,200mi/mo. Between this setup and my previous one, this w/g has over 15,000 mi on it. Same with the intercooler. The bov is something I added when I swapped from an auto car to manual, so it has about half the miles on it.

Street Lethal, thanx for the compliment!

I'm using two SSAC 35mm wastegates on mine these days. They seem fine with about 1000 miles on them.

Re: Anyone using a ebay type wastegate with any luck?

ssac wastegate for over 100k 38mm 2 bolt style not a single issue out of it ever, the only time it never worked is when i blew the boost line off it
just never oil or grease the valve in it if it ever needs to be lubricated use a graphite pencil on the valve stem.
depnding on which one u want they can be had new on ebay from 40-125$'s

nice when u get an bov go for the tial replica,or the ssqv replica, the others will not flow enough air.with the tial replica prolly being ur best bet.**** theres a couple threads in this section that have pics of diff ebay intercoolers mounted id take a look around and see which style u liek the best and will work out for how u want to run ur pipes

Re: Anyone using a ebay type wastegate with any luck?

also need one to support 650 rwhp so I guess it needs to be pretty big. looking at 30x12x3 and 2.5 in and out. a few have pipe kits for around 200 bucks. so as long as the pipes will work to get it all hooked up. Wish I knew of a kit someone used that had the nessissary pieces to work. I will keep searching as yet to find anyone saying "I used this kit and it all worked".

Re: Anyone using a ebay type wastegate with any luck?

Well the guy I got the turbo from made 750 rwhp on a 331cu ford in a mustang. He used 2.5 inch pipe for all the intake stuff because it was easier to route than the 3 inch and made more hp with it than I am looking for. He also had a cheap intercooler that came with a carteck turbo kit. So think I should use the 2.5 for the ease of routing and if cant find a 2.5 in and out that is big enough will use a 3 inch with 2.5 pipe I guess. I think most guys are using the in and out on the bottom though other than that the intercooler looks good.
