Grab a book and do some reading. Learn to read a compressor map, then it'll be easy. We can't just tell you a quick one liner and you'll know it all. Learning the ropes (a book) is a cheap way to avoid a painful mistake.

Plus, why bother with all that work on a 3.1L ??? You bought the wrong camaro, oops, but don't try to bandage that with a turbo. An SBC is a much better start.

Re: how do i choose the right turbo?

A search here at TGO will bring up Daves12secv6. He was in the 12s with a 46 trim T4 compresser with a T3 frame and .63 A/R turbine (aka, the ebay T04E $130 turbo).

You would probably be more than happy with a turbo that size.
Go to www.turbobygarrett.com and read the Tech 101, 102, 103 pages for more details on sizing turbochargers. It has everything you need there if you want the tech stuff.

SBC = small block chevy

Boost what you got. Although, anyone that says "i just doing it for a project something to do" is usually dreaming and never installs something like a turbocharger. No offense, but I don't think you realize how much work it is.

Exactly. 99.99% of people who talk about doing turbo's, never end up going through with it, so it's usually a waste of breath. There are a handful of people who've done it, and they KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING. They didn't just read a few threads and go to town.

Then on the other side you have the out of control guys like me with hmmmm......let's see.......three 70mm turbos, one 85mm, a 75mm, a 42mm, a 63mm, a 30mm, a 51mm. All of which are sitting in boxes or a half built exh. manifold waiting to go on something. I could never part with them and will have them on something someday. That is besides the two turbo rigs already built. Boost is addicting.

it took me 1.5 years of looking stuff up and reading - collecting parts before i finally got my turbo system together
