Procharger Belt length

Can anyone help me out with the Procharger belt length that I need?

I just brought a new D-1SC and I have not installed in my car yet. Don't know when I will install it, could be next year who knows. Just too much things to do around.

I got all the parts for the Procharger and I have not got the belt for the charger.

I need to know what size belt length I need for:
ALUMINUM 8"od x 8 RIB CRANK PULLEY with
8 rib x 3.75" diameter x 1.25" wide?

The pullies are custom make and are not Procharger pullies. I know they are different sizes pulley from Procharger.

I am not sure if any of you have that size pulley for the Procharger, cause I couldn't find it any where on this form.

Please let me know thanks.

Re: Procharger Belt length

Procharger closest size to that pulley I think might be 3.70. I have numbers for that belt somewhere. I ran 3.40, 3.70 (I think) and a 4.00 with a 8" crank pulley using Goodyear Gatorback and Dayco Polycog belts. I'll check tomorrow and post back.

Thanks, please let me know the belt length that I have the 8" crank pulley with 3.75". Both the 8"od and 3.75" were not from Procharger. Yes, Procharger do sell a 3.70" pulley.

Thanks.

Re: Procharger Belt length

I don't a head unit on the engine right now but the 8 rib belts I have hanging in my garage are 66.00" belts. These where the belts I ran with the 3.40 pulley SO, figure 66.25 or 66.50 possibly for your setup?

Thanks, but I am not sure the right measurement length. I just want to get the correct setup length with the 8"od crank pulley and 3.75" dia.

Anyone experience this kind of setup?

Thanks again.

Re: Procharger Belt length

Scott, these belts are only in a few increments so like I said, search around for goodyears belt lengths above 66inches. The length of belt is in the model number of Dayco and Goodyear belts so it helps in finding the right length. You're stressing too much on the length, its really only a possiblity of probably 3 different belts. Shlt, buy all 3, find out which one is the right one and return the other 2.

Thanks, but I do not know when I will install my new Procharger in the car. Could be next year, but who knows. I have too much stuff to do.

When, I got the Procharger stuff, from “BloweWorks” Greg Carroll. He told me to measure the length between the two pullies. Then he would send me the correct length belt or I believe have a custom measure belt make.

Thanks.

Re: Procharger Belt length

you could take a suggestion from above, go to a local auto parts store, buy a 6rib in whatever size you think should be close , 66" or whatever, use it as a test fit, and decide from their what size you need. you can always return the 6rib belt since you didnt use it. and then order your procharger belt.

Yes, I could do that. But, sorry if I was not clear. I do not know when I will be able to install the Procharger in my car. I just have too much work to do. Also I already purchased the Procharger this summer and the belt does included in the price with the kits. So the guy I brought it from didn’t send me the belt, but sent me the rest of the kits, till I measure the length between the two pulleys.

So I am trying to find out if anyone runs similar set-up pulleys or know the correct belt length. Then I can inform Greg the correct measurement and he would send it to me.

I do not want to spend more money on it.

Thanks again.

Re: Procharger Belt length

I have been researched for the correct size belt length that I would need.

So, I found this link http://www.pyramidbelts.com/calc_beltlength.php and I am sure there is more information than this link.

I need to know what is the “Center distance between the 2 pulleys” with the D1SC charger? This may help the length belt size I would need? Would that be true? So from there, I can do the calculation for the proper size length.

Let me know thanks.

Re: Procharger Belt length

the d1sc setup uses an idler pully too so there are 3 pullies not just 2 to figure in the belt length

You are right, my mistake.

So what would the measurements be?

Thanks.

wait until you install the procharger would be the best bet, but like said above there are only 3 sizes

Re: Procharger Belt length

FWIW, I was prepping to put the procharger back in. I'm using a 3.40 pulley and 8" crank pulley. The belt I was using for those pullies is 65.2" long. I'm going to roll some dice here and say the 66.0" long fits for the 3.70 pulley. if it didn't then they have to have an 8-rib longer than 65.2 and shorter than 66 (that's only .8 inches (roughly 7/8").

Re: Procharger Belt length

Well, I stumbled on my original paperwork that came with my P1-SC from Procharger. This is for an 8" 8-rib crank pulley setup. I'll list the drive pulley diameter, prochargers part # and the actual length for the belts.

4.25" - DB660I-8 - 66.0"

4.00" - DB653I-8 - 65.25"

3.70" - DB645I-8 - 64.50"

3.40" - DB645I-8 - 64.50"

While I can't explain the same belt lengths on the 3.7 and 3.4 pullies I can only say I'm running a 64.50" belt with my 3.40 pulley and this is also what the parts list I have from Procharger says. Hope this helps.

Thanks, that really helpful with the lists of belt length with different diameter pulleys. So now I can get an idea what length I would need and still would have to figure out the calculation for the 3.75" pulley.

Interesting, about the length belt you have that comes with 3.40" and 3.70". Does your belt slip or it is tight any problems at all?

Thanks again.

Re: Procharger Belt length

I know this is a little late but I think you may want to buy both the 4.0" belt and the 3.70" belt because there will not be a different belt length from gates between those 2 sizes. If you check Goodyear (Gatorbacks, which I run) they MIGHT have another length.
I did get belt slip with my 3.4 pulley. I'm solving that by installing an auto/spring tensioner this winter while I'm building engine # 4 for my car. I'll be posting a service in the classifieds add where I'll sell an auto tensioner mounted on your procharger bracket. I may even offer polishing your bracket. No more belt slip and a nice shiny bracket.

Re: Procharger Belt length

The procharger parts list i have calls for a 65" belt for the 4" and 3.7" blower pulley with an 8" crank pulley on a 12 rib setup, I don't think it would be different for the 8 rib other than belt width of course.

Call for a 64'' belt for the 3.4 and 3.25 pulleys also if anyone wanted to know.

Okay interesting, I will have to look for a belt length. I havent put the charger in my car yet. Just dont want the belt to slip.

Ac, you will be selling a "auto tensioner mounted on your procharger bracket". How does this work and what does it look like?

Thanks again.

Here is my setup, much better than stock from ATI.

Spring loaded tensioner

there is a post here on thirdgen also.........

Stronger bracket

I have also removed idler pulley on the bracket. I only have the spring loaded one and the org. adjustable one.

Have you been driving it like that? Any problems with a belt throwing or anything like that?

But a single 12rib would be better.

For sure!

I'd be worried about them flapping in opposide directions and hitting each other possibly causing one belt to toss the other.

Well, I finished the setup. This setup uses a Goodyear Gatorback stock belt.
