I'm not seeing any links... You get what you pay for normally. When I bought my BBS Designs kit it was $2500+ for the twin turbo one. The ARs also play a huge role in the performance of the turbos. I imagine for $1000 for the kit you're looking at some cheap China Made SS headers that will crack. Higher quality ones are $800 or more just for the headers.

Twins are twice the handache! I would stick with a single Turbo set-up. The lowest price best quality turbo you can get is a master power

I would build your set-up around your turbo 1st. Not buy a cheap kit and change everything later. And if you buy this kit thats what you would be doing!

SSautochrome doesn't have the best reputation.

Re: is this a good turbo kit

SS made BBS go out of business because they copied the designs and made poor quality of product thus it was cheaper... I'm rather sad I had to sell my kit as it was the last one ever offered for public sale. I did flip it for easy $400 profit though...

If you want to see a nice kit (sad no longer able to get one) here's my link.

MasterPower makes some nice turbos. Like I said SS headers are very thin and they don't fit right usually. You can search around the board and see results of that. There is a guy over at another turbo forum site (it's posted somewhere) that makes headers to order (v band type) to your specific application and placement and sizing for $800 a pair. They looked very pretty.

A good friend just got done building a 427 stroker with twin 72 MMs. I believe his kit ran him around $8000 for everything (turbos, headers, intercooler, wastegates etc). Course he's making right around 700 RWHP on E-85 though. You can do budget stuff if you're careful and look for good parts. We've had members build kits from cast log headers and make 400+ hp before. Search is your friend.

Re: is this a good turbo kit

SS auto chrome as said has a bad reputation. Their turbos are getting better over time but originally they were known for blowing their turbos and thus blowing motors.

We will not install these cheap turbos/kits in our shop because of the headaches/fitment/problems down the road. Everyone always wants to blame someone else type of deal. The labor to install tune and piece together a sloppy kit usually turns people away anyway. This does not mean you cant do it yourself though. We have found that its just not cost effective to install such kits.

If you do go with ssAC do not use the waste-gate/s that come with the kit, buy something with a reputation like tial. You will save yourself allot of time, trouble and money. Also buy extra oil feed/return line. When hooking these up the factory lines are not usually long enough to go where you want them.

Car craft did a great write up on a eBay twin turbo 350sbc on a 55' Chevy. They go through all the problems with such a kit and how they can be avoided. Even better they showed how well this kit performed for only 1000$. It produced 600hp at 15psi I believe with 2 t3/t4 hybrids. Take a look at the article its worth the while.

Yep I've seen pictures of those. Mostly of the housings seperating and some type of epoxy used to hold it together.

As for the BBS Headers they were nice. The set I held was great and you can't go wrong with the quality and thickness of the metal. Edgardo basically told me he made the headers to outlast the life of the car.
