Re: My v8 Twin Turbo Project firebird

should be ok size for a 305 not looking for alot of power but still enough to break the motor. That a T3/t4 hybrid turbo? Kit is likely full of cheap components but could work. I just dont know anyone using those kits. There are ebay intercoolers and turbos being used with success but dont know about the kits. Still alot of fabrication needed for that build.

Re: My v8 Twin Turbo Project firebird

Yea I've been hard core studying this before I even buy this. I know now all the.little things to check before installation. And ill prolly upgrade some things later. But for now I just wanna get it.on correctly. Im using an installation manual wit a twin Turbo on a 350 it should be about the same except the 350 is a.blow back kit(carbed) im very mechanicaly inclined also with fabrication. The only thing I don't know is where all the lines and hoses go. I've been looking.for.answeres and the only thing I can't figuelres out.is 1 a diagram of all hoses and where they go. And 2 is there anything in this kit im missing? And a reminder. Im not a strip runner strictly street and car shows. I picked this kit cause everything matches my car perfectly. I know everyone says eBay kits suck but for 1200 bucks I know I get what I payed for. But I wanna try and fix the kit and get it too hold. So if I succeed then ill be able to help people.

Orr89roc7 they are t3/t4 spool at 1200-1500 rpm and they claim to be hybrid but with those kits you never really sure unless there's a.grant or turbonetics sticker on em. I hope to make and installation guide for.everyone trying.to do.this with a tpi 305 or 350.

Re: My v8 Twin Turbo Project firebird

if you got the money to spend and want to learn thats not a bad way to start with a budget setup, and with TPI short rpm range, and small 305 cubes a large t3/T4 hybrid "stage III" type turbo wont be too far off from optimal I dont think. They usually in the 48-52mm compressor range, some higher I think. That aint too bad for a mild twin 305 setup. Hard to say tho without more specs on it.

lines and hoses are easy, not much too it. Oil cooler tho you need an adapter on the block, Canton racing makes one that I am using but its not on the car yet. I mocked it up and it works. I just need lines and cooler fittings.

vacuum lines and such are fairly easy too.

Re: My v8 Twin Turbo Project firebird

Sweet man. It was like a week or two ago I was admiring your setup in the iroc and the good thing about it is I got a 77 4 bolt main 350 I've been dying to throw in it. Just can't seem to blow the 305 lol so if the engine blows im not worried about.it as long as my kit escapes unscathed. Not sure when ill be able to buy this kit. Money is tight and im looking for another job. But when I get it I'd like to connect with ya on some ideas I have on some fabrication. Plus first time with Turbo technology def gonna need someone to help me. Lol

Re: My v8 Twin Turbo Project firebird

a pair of those turbos will support alot more power then u will make with the 305.

i will be using a pair of those on my 355 they should be capable of 950-1k flywheel hp

the headers are junk and wont fit a 3rdgen if they are the foward facing headers, and the headers that go up will require some cutting of the hood

if u buy that stuff seeratly u could get a air of turbos and wastegates for around 330 bucks and then make ur own headers

my headers cost me about 60 bucks in materials heres a unfinished pic of the driver side

From that description you can't really tell what cold side is on them, but no matter what you won't push 1000hp through a pair, the .63 hot side (If I remember right they have 2.5" outlets, I sold off the last .63 T3 that I had YEARS ago) will never move enough exhaust out even if the compressor can feed the intake side. I'd be very suprised if they will move much over 700hp worth.

Otherwise I don't know of any ebay kit that will just bolt on...

50 trim cold sides they will do 450 to 500 hp each on paper
the stage 3 turbines keep up fairly well but backpressure will start to be an issue, but u can bolt 3 inch downpipes to these turbos, even better if u swap to a gt35 style turbine housing with a 3 inch outlet

levi the valve covers and intake are spray painted with 2 metalic base coat and then a translucent blue should be better pics in my t6 build thread

Re: My v8 Twin Turbo Project firebird

I know this is an older post, but I am doing a twin turbo setup on my formula 350 currently a solid 275hp TPI305 temporary motor till my 357 forged motor is done. I was going to buy this set that dumps the turbos towards the front right next to the serpentine belts, may have to remove the passenger side bracket for the serpentine setup in my 89, but I'll just run a shorter belt and barely get it on, by using a socket and ratcheting the alternator to get the belt on. What kind of manifolds are on this motor? Did they go far to the side of the head, then dumped towards the top? I was going to buy a similar kit for mine. Have you run the car at the track since this setup was finished? I'm very interested, thanks
