sure, why not? i would probably do a wet kit though. not sure whats available for the tpi cars, but the dry shots didnt work all that great on the LT1 cars.

Re: nitrous on a stock l98

i would think a 150 shouldnt be an issue if its in decent shape... transmission will probably be an issue though at some point.

hundred passes or more i would say, as long as the tune is good. everything needs to be "right". jetting, bottle pressure, and fuel pressure. also pull enough timing.

i would. as g.i. joe always said.... "knowing is half the battle"
knowing how everything works together is the difference between tearing stuff up and going fast for cheap.

What sorta differences would you see at the strip, with 150 shot. (Stock suspension, and lightly modded L98.)

Re: nitrous on a stock l98

I have some experience, so here you go:

About 10 years ago a buddy bought a 1989 IROC L98 and did some bolt-ons: headers, exhaust and other small stuff, it ran 14.2 at 97 on nitto drag radials.

He ended up getting bored and had me put an adjustable nitrous kit on it - jetted it for 100hp along with a big trans cooler and took it to the track. With no suspension or trans work it ran 13.0 at 105 with a 1.69s 60' on the Nitto DR and would run those same exactl times consistently. Nitrous dropped the car 1.2s and added about 8mph to the top end. Keep in mind the car was all about TQ and hook with the TPI style intake and no converter.

After about 20 bottles, the trans started to slip; I wanted him to get a built one and hit it 150hp - but he sold it and picked up a 97 LT1 TA (which was a total sled).

nitrous is pretty safe if you have complete kit with all safety equipment

stock replacements...was elling my self to pull them after the first pass but it ran a good AFR on the narrow band. The first time I just bumped the button, the second time was for real and after that second time...I was hooked...line and sinker.

-The car was pissed the next morning as I had went threw probly half the bottle (stone this man!) that night sprayen and giggleing and...even in traffic.

--Original head gaskets didn't like the cylinder pressure though...they cracked...hard, and my value seals blew out.
(motor had never been opened...)

Id suggest you guys redo have your motor redone from the deck up at least to start.

--Also put a new fuel pump and injectors in. my fuel presure was 22 PSI on the 150 shot before I had the motor work done and 20 PSI after the work was done..................

Re: nitrous on a stock l98

Let me give a few words of advice, I just put a Nitrous Express wet universal kit on my stock L98 and have been taking my time prior to running it.

First off, regardless if you decide to pull timing or not, you need to pull the EST wire and check your base timing. My car was advanced over 8* (I had over 16* initial timing) from when I purchased it from the previous owner. Had I not checked the timing before I ran the nitrous for the first time... yep.

Second, get a FPSS. I discovered my fuel pressure was dipping (at least at idle), I think due to a charging issue or my fuel pump going bad, I am about to have that figured out shortly.

So right there, on a perfect running 350TPI with 90k miles, I had two separate issues where if I had not been paying attention I could have toasted the motor.

Just a thought, just double check everything you will be glad you did. I plan on starting with a 75 shot with stock base timing, then pulling 2* and bumping to 100, then pulling 3* total and running 125 hp. I think an L98 could do a 150 shot if you pulled 6* of timing to be conservative.

Re: nitrous on a stock l98

Remove 2 degrees of timing per 50 HP of Nitrous, is the usual...
Also, a fuel safety valve can is cheap insurance to save your motor...
Colder spark plugs, as mentioned... Don't activate it below 2800 or so and if you have a rev limiter, be sure it turns off before it hits the rev limit....
