anyone running an air 2 water intercooler

with the current rebuild of my twin turbo iroc ive been thinking about going with an air 2 water setup.

looking for some feedback on hese though for street use, i know for drag apps these etups are the cats meow.

this is what i was looking at getting

an almost 6 gallon water/ice tank
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Water-to-air...7b4074&vxp=mtr

and maybe this intercooler that i will cut up and modify as needed
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Liquid-Water...f7af0c&vxp=mtr

im thinking cut it in half and stack the cores side by side so its 2x as thick and only half as wide si it fits up in the dash or on the passenger side floorboard

how much street use can u get out of one of these systems before they heatsoak

i've seen guys run a cooler for the water, similar to a trans cooler, to keep the water temps in check

yeah ive been looking at the heat exchangers , but damn if im not packing enough stuff into the car already lol. but if i do go a2w ill have room up in the nose were the massive a2a unit is now

my biggest problem is if i stay with an a2a setup my 32x16x4 core isnt enough for the new engine id more then likley need 2 a2a cores that size

Isn't enough? How much boost and HP you planning on making? Thats a huge a2a. Mine is alittle smaller than yours and rated to over 1000RWHP. Its for a Supra

I have one, meziere water pump temp switch controlled, small reservoir and a stack oil cooler I'm using to cool the water. Once the pump kicks in charge temps plummit.

434ci afr 245 heads twin 66's or single 91/106 should make upwards of 1500hp

Heat soak the tank? The pump runs on boost and off a switch on the dash so the water is cooled, no heat soak

Re: anyone running an air 2 water intercooler

I did a PT1000 intercooler in the firewall. There is room for a bigger one but you will start reducing leg room for passengers.

My heat exchanger is a 2.5" thick 14"x24" griffon radiator. Mounted under the hood latch area. It has a fan on it also. Lots of room in between it and the engine radiator/trans cooler. My radiator air deflector still does its job and shoots air up to the rad. I use an aerospace remote mount pump and a mix of 3/4" and 1" hoses and cheap plastic fittings to keep it cheap/light. My heat exchanger is overkill and,Im hoping it works so well I won't need a big tank of water anywhere in the car. This dtuff adds enough weight as it is. Im hoping this cooler setup and a small shot of meth will give me 10psi with NO increase in air temps. Hoping... No data yet.

Twin_Turbo's setup is hilarious. So much work to cool the air down but the air inlet is right above the header. Hottest pipes in the engine bay.

Re: anyone running an air 2 water intercooler

Your reply is hilaious in that you make assumptions based on ignorance and possibly hearsay. Certainly not hands on experience.. I am meticulous in everything and actually have a charge temp gauge on it. I fabbed a remote inlet setup and did testing. The difference in temps at the tb inlet between this and remote are negligibly small. So why would I add more clutter to it if it serves no purpose? Headers are wrapped, they don't heat up the engine bay that much.

If you want to pick a fight with people, do it on one of the other forums.

Re: anyone running an air 2 water intercooler

Im running an air to water setup on my daily driver turbo jeep. I have a decent size heat exchanger up front (modyfied a/c evaporator core lol). I have the i/c pump on all the time with a gallon tank. In the summer it will get heat soaked in stop in go traffic then cool off if im driving higher speeds for awhile. In the winter, its ice cold all time. I wish i had the room to do an air to air setup tho. Im not a fan of street driven air to water setups, just didnt have the room to fab an air to air. Yes, thats the washer fluid tank. haha. I just circulate washer fluid thru the i/c. Saved me from finding a seperate resevoir and trying to mount it. I just keep a gallon of washer fluid in the jeep so i can keep it topped off.
