Re: Chronicles of a 9 Second 305 Trans Am...

That's the problem though Will, and Justin essentially nailed it. With the current setup, and without a transbrake, I can't build boost off the line. However, with a much higher stall I will be able to at least foot brake to a better sixty foot with the current setup and maybe build a little boost and bring that ET down substantially. Trap speed won't change though until I add more power by upping the boost pressure. At 126-mph the GTA is a solid and consistent ten second car at 15-psi. Once I upload new features into the EBL-P4 later today I will start experimenting with 20+psi again, as I only had it up there a few times for tuning purposes, but that should catapult me into single digit ET land. Actually looking for a plain Jane no vent firebird hood (preferably Black of course), so if anybody wants to trade straight up, let me know...

Re: Chronicles of a 9 Second 305 Trans Am...

IAT's a tad over ambient at 65 degrees before making the pass, goes no higher than 72 degrees during. Alky would have brought it down tremendously, but when running in cool weather it doesn't really matter at such low boost pressure. Coolant temps stood at 180 degrees, engine oil temps stood at 190 degrees didn't budge, don't have a transmission temperature gauge just yet but that is coming. Intercooler is an ebay 4" core, 3" in and out universal front mount. Gotta double check but I think it might be the same brand as the T72 turbo and 44mm wastegate I am running...

Edit: Yes, intercooler is a Godspeed unit just like the turbo and wastegate...

Re: Chronicles of a 9 Second 305 Trans Am...

Thats not bad at all! Mine rise like hell! I need a intercooler upgrade. After burnout and on tbrake i think i am in the 80-90 deg range start and see 170 on a 25 psi pull. In cold ambient... Not good

I saw 90 to 123 deg on 12 psi 2 yrs ago on same setup

Congrats man! The 305 is getting it done. Can't wait to see more results when you add more boost and better convertor.

Was a bit skeptical with this thread but that trap speed shows it flying. I'm guessing the last tenths for a 9 second slip will be the toughest. Hopefully the engine holds

Engine more than likely is going to blowup if I keep pushing it, and I am just being realistic because it's all cast. Plugs were fouled the last time I pulled them because of the tuning, but didn't see any knock indication on them. Snowed over here last night and surprised the whole damn township, so I am unsure of how the weather is going to be this Sunday. Almost traded the hood last night for something else, but a buddy convinced me to stick with it and get my hands on that ebay Holley Stealth Ram. Didn't realize how damn inexpensive it was even with the fuel rail setup. Good job Dave for bringing that deal to the forum's attention...

I gotta be honest, siamesing the stock Tuned Port setup did help tremendously on the street with RPM, but the stock runners really are holding the engine back. I would definitely get a bigger throttle body and larger aftermarket runners when sticking with the TPI over the HSR. I really like the TPI look too, the kids that work over at the wawa by my house always ask me to pop the hood when I am there, and are always complimenting the "spider" look that it has...

I want to find a set of slp runners but dont wanna pay an arm n leg for them

I would be happy with mid high 300's whp. SHould get my light 91 into bottom 12's or high 11's, which will surpass my old daily driver ls1 ta

Re: Chronicles of a 9 Second 305 Trans Am...

.streetlethal knows me and knows im no troll , dave (project 89 nows me too ..i dont know you from adam
i played with pontiacs before most of you guys were born , just never really posted here and had more cars than you could imagine mostly second gens but i stil haev a couple third gen pacecars
the screen name is mine and what i used since the internet started
then i went to buick turbos back in 99 and have been playing with them if you want you can find me as pacecarta on the turbobuick boards
Nice back ground but that still doesnt change the fact that you are 'trollin' the thread as you havent posted in the thread before and now are making claims that this result isnt real... Now if there is a reason for it then spill the beans. Is it your slip?

Yes I do know him, very well I might add. The reason why I responded that way is because I didn't even know who he was at first, the user ID was not familiar. I thought it was an LSX thumper from over in the theoretical section at first. Telling me to lose your number was really effed up man, why didn't you answer my call?

Are you serious with that ridiculous statement texas lol? I am still waiting for you to post "something", ANYTHING, but you and Draconic have posted nothing, you just feed off of everybody else's builds. I already said I didn't want to post timeslips, I would rather post a video, I have said that over and over. I know what my car runs, do you yours lol? Any videos? Anything to offer? Tell you what, I will post the video of my run when you do...

Now again, keep your rants to yourself, or start another thread of your own.

Re: Chronicles of a 9 Second 305 Trans Am...

Silence is golden isn't it Texas lol. You, Draconic and Junk, all of you profess to know your stuff, yet I haven't seen anything for an elusive boosted $8D code for one, turbo headers that still aren't done for another, and last but not least a BLOWN UP engine for the third. Yup, and I'm the one who, who's engine is still going strong, who's headers are done, and who's boost code works, doesn't seem to know what he is doing lmao. Nobody asked you to follow this thread texas, and I certainly am not doing this to entertain you, so don't feel as if I owe you anything. I can appreciate the attention though...

Somethings take time i can understand that. My second combo was completed to run 8's over 3 years ago! It had all kinds of issues and ran 10.5 haha. Took me 3 years to get it all sorted out and finally to run what i claimed it would.
I'll give street the benefit of the doubt cuz i have had my troubles with builds. I just wanna see how this 305 runs because i am building one

Re: Chronicles of a 9 Second 305 Trans Am...

Justin, I already told Joe in a private message that I am done with this thread after I post the final 1/4 mile video, and even then I don't know why I'm even going to bother taking the time to post it with the some of the idiots that post in this forum. Almost 200 bin files later flashed into this engine and all of them tuned based on performance via 60', 0-60, 1/8th and 1/4 data through the EBL's Data logging Analysis screen all being done on the street and on the highway, from a dead stop and a roll, I have known what this car would run a very long time ago with half of the bins being tuned to 8-psi, and the other half being tuned to 15-psi, the engine took a freaking beating. I've shown the fuel consumption at just 7-psi from the WUD directly, and horsepower was over 400, but that was a waste of time because most of the members here don't even know what they are looking at. I will post the final 1/4 mile video for the sake of this thread, and for the members who want to see the GTA's outcome, and no it won't be "cgi" (rolleyes) but until then, just leave the thread alone, I am not posting anything else being done to this project because it literally is a waste of my time at this point, so let's see what you guys can do with your turbo power house builds in the interim...

If you guys want to post bullshit and act like a bunch of babies go post in the street racing forum where the idiots belong.

This forum is for posting tech relating to forced induction combinations, not for stirring up nonsense because you don't like how somebody spent their money.
