Supercharger Cam Selection
Looking for to get some input on who makes the best cams for superchargers. There are so many options and hopping to find a cam grinder that has hands on experience with TBI's and Whipple's would be even nicer.
I have a 355, Flat top pistons, 6" rods, 2.3 Whipple @ 10psi boost, AFR Eliminator 195 heads 76cc combustion, Edelbrock Performer intake, Roller cam setup, 750 cfm 454 TBI bored to 54mm ports, Longtube headers 2 1/2 duals, EBL computer. Current cam was selected by Comp Cams for this setup and but different heads (Iron Vortec). Cam is 08-503-8 Duration @ .050 224/230 Lift .509/.517 with 1.52 rockers. Static 9:1 CR, Dynamic 7:1 Dynamic and Dynamic under boost 11.7:1 CR.. Maybe my current cam is good enough. This is going in a 1994 C1500, 2wd, EXT, 4600lbs, 4l60E, 2500 stall, 3:73 gears.
Engine Redline is 6000 rpm, and must pass emissions
. When it was on the dyno last year the torque was 425 RWTQ but HP was way down. It wasn't tuned in because of other issues, so I don't know if HP was to blame on just tune, heads, cam, or combination of every thing.
Had a few suggestions just hoping to get a few more opinions.

Re: Supercharger Cam Selection
I have a nice supercharger cam recommended to me by comp. its spec'd at 236/248 .520/.540 113LSA. I am selling it if you are interested. It was in my 383 with F1 procharger. I ran 10.9's with it.

Current Cam is a 112 LSA.
TraviZ is that a custom grind or does it have a part number so I can look up all the specs.

Re: Supercharger Cam Selection
Cam recommended by Lutani for the build I have today is part# 20080721 Advertised Duration (Int/Exh): 270/278 Duration @ .050 (Int/Exh): 221/229 Gross Valve Lift (Int/Exh): .515/.530 LSA 112
Or next step up Custom 227/231 at .050 with a 114 LSA with a 110 intake centerline.
To me cams are black magic, but is what brings everything together and the hart of the engine.

Re: Supercharger Cam Selection
Slowly getting me engine together should get short block back from machine shop next week, I did get feedback from Comp Cams, and Crane Cams; which both of them said to stick with my current cam, as I wouldn't see much of a performance gain from changing out cams. Comp did say they could make some upgrades if I didn't have emissions. This cam was suggested to me by a Cam designer which sounds like it could be an upgrade I am just worried about the dynamic CR since I make full boost around 3500 rpm.
• Duration @ .050 (Int/Exh): 216/228
• Lobe Lift (Int/Exh): .340"/.340"
• Gross Valve Lift w/1.6 (Int/Exh): .544/.544
• LSA 114
• Intake closing @.006" is 62 ABC
• Intake closing @.050" is 38 ABC
• Static CR 9:1, Dynamic CR 8.24, Dynamic w/boost CR 13.85:1
• Cranking Pressure 165 psi
What are your thoughts?

Re: Supercharger Cam Selection
running a SC and NOS I was recommended 224/236 113 lope sep by Comp Cams. Actually they gave me 5 different cams and this was the one I thought matched my set up the best
Wanna go high on exhaust and low on intake. All of the cams here look good

Re: Supercharger Cam Selection
Thanks for the input. I ended up going with a Mike Jones Custom Cam .544 lift 216/228 dur @.050, LSA 116. Over all very happy with the cam currently at 5 psi and feels stronger than ever. Plan to take the boost up to 8-10 once I get a couple of issues taken care of. I have not had it on the dyno running correctly yet, but have estimated HP at 450 and still get 24 mpg down the interstate.
I don't like to talk bad about others product, but Comp Cams is one that I will never use again. The Comp Cams cam that I originally had; had the lobes all different heights, but the base circles were offset to match giving the correct lift. The cam was returned to Comp Cams and they stated that it was out of their spec, but the amount that it was out would be unnoticeable, and it was normal finding in their off-shelf cams. To me they are a company that has grown to the point that Quantity is more important than Quality.
Mike Jones is very intelligent and helped me get the right cam for my setup and needs.
